A Maran

Many years had passed since Keinte had taken the mantle of a squire. He was now a
Maran of the Brigade and he served as best he could. Whether it was a hard fought
battle or a quick and painless death he served, or simply the use of his eyes as
he scouted for the other members of the Fortress.
He had witnessed great victories by his brethren of the Fortress, and had seen
shattering losses.
But the Marshall and the Captain always held firm in the face of their opposition
so Keinte could do no less.

Experiences were many, and Keinte continued to learn his art, and understand better
the ways to combat the wickedness of the lands. When brothers and sisters fell from
the ranks others would rise to fill them again. As disheartening as it was to see
his fellows leave, new inspiration could always be found in the fresh and enthusatic
faces of the newer recruits.

But not all was war, Keinte got to explore the lands, trade pieces of fine dragon armor
where he was able, and the odd bit of gambling when he was off duty, though his luck
at dice never extended far.
He had even had the pleasure of chaperoning the Lady Azorinne to the Gala at the inn,
an honor that would truely not fade with time.
