The Prophet of Portents

Alendross sat below the Tree that housed the Outlanders and grinned wide as
rain spattered across his face. He loved the soothing feel of the storms and
the bite of the whipping winds. He could feel age starting to creep into his
bones, knowing that it wouldn't be long before it weakened him further and
made it more difficult to hunt. He had learned much in his nearly seven
centuries. Listening to Her instincts had become second nature to him to such
a point, that he found himself able to call upon Her spirits. She had taught
him the ways of the animists and he had put those teachings to good use.
Hunting had been good. He had fed the abomination Itzenxilaatl to Her, the
abomination Tjur of the village, and many more in his many years. He had
heard the whispers around the campfires, referring to him as a prophet of
portents. This pleased Alendross, as a student of the Storm-Lord. But as his
lord taught him, it was less divination and more just listening. Hearing Her
instincts when Her winds blew west or south.

Enjoying the last tomatoe he had been given by the old man Panmorne, Alendross
thought hard about what he had learned from the Immortal. Time. Seasons.
Rushing the wardens to fruition had proven... well... fruitless. So he had
taken to his old ways of teaching, and biding. And as the old man said, the
wardens seem to begin to flourish. Alendross will watch, and listen to Her
for Her guidance. The Tree is strong, and he is happy for it.
