Misfortune

The Azhan pharaohs were said to have weighed the heart of the man against a
feather. Yet an ancient drow proverb stated,"She without a heart or soul,
carries no burden of moral nor conscious thought." So were the dark elves
able to cheat death's judgment and worry about morality even less. An
unhindered life, was a free life.

That week she did not feel very much like a dark-elf.

Not because of morality, but because she worried. She worried about being
caught and discovered. Failure. A fraud. And it weighed on her soul.

So was it then the misfortune of the now Nameless House of Kira, that they
chose that week for their assault on a greater House before Kira's
shortcomings were known.

So was it the misfortune of the now Nameless House when with poor luck they
chose the House of the Imp's Master.

So was it the misfortune of her now Nameless House when the conjuration
spells they relied upon Kira for did not come in the assault.

However, no misfortune at all was the part of the grinning imp who sounded
the alarm the night her house struck. So knowing, always grinning.
