Much has happened since I was last forced to reflect upon my time as
a magistrate. I had worked my way up through the ranks of the Spire
until I was promised a leadership position as a Provincial Magistrate,
both by the current Provost and lady Ishuli herself. But then nothing.
I spent many days attending to my post waiting to be pulled aside. When
that did not occur, I began to venture to Ishulis shrine to petition
her. When weeks passed with no word, I then began to see my fellow
magistrates receive promotions while I heard only silence, so I knew
I had fallen out of favor.

What did I do wrong? I cannot say, but my time on duty lessened more and more
each time. Each time I would travel to Galadon and start my watch, I
would see new faces, new leaders, new policies. The politics of the
Spire was passing me by, and I had little interest in any of it, being
little more than a ghost now.

Finally, after many months of inaction, I arrived on duty one day and
saw I had been cast from the Spire entirely. No attempt at
communication, just tossed out like garbage. I considered whether I
wanted to beg for another chance at returning. Then I decided that
maybe I had been wasting my time all along, and it was a dead end for
me. As my last sliver of vigilance dwindled away, I was fast becoming
a normal citizen without an ounce of respect, or a single point of
support to rely on anymore.

I would need to figure out my new path in life, and soon. The rabid
wolves will be coming for me in my time of weakness, and I will
need to be prepared.
