Description

Enormous would do nothing but understate the utter size of this enormous
being. Long bright orange hair falls in a thick braid from his huge head. His
forhead almost seems to push out from his skull and tries to hide the round
black searching eyes that rest below. His broad nose sits above a wide mouth
filled with brilliant white teeth. A thick vein neck leads into two broad
muscled shoulders that wield the heavy arms attached to them with ease. His
rough movements show his ungainly lack of agility that his might has always
overcompensated for. As you look further upon this beast you also see that...

Chapter 8

A Life Saved by Magic

Warhorns broke the morning tedium with brazen impulse as giants
filled the tunnels moving swiftly towards the entrance, arming
themselves as they went. Such was the way of Kiadana Rah, the
storm giants would assault them as they spouted their dogma of
righteous dictation, and the fire giants would fight them back.

The fire giants took positions near the entrance to the upper
levels, extinguishing their torches so they could take advantage
of the natural dark so prevalent inside the volcano. This time
was not like all the others though, chanting elves and praying
dwarves moved in rank with the storm giants. The defenses had
little hope to succeed as icicles and gods granted energies
froze and seared in turn.

Deeper in the volcano, where the noise of simmering heat vents
was only broken by the occasional gutteral chant of power, a
large female fire giant stood silently over a craddled infant.
The child was as large as any grown man, yet easily dwarfed by
the emmense proportions of his mother. As the large red skinned
defenders began stumble past her open chamber, looking for any
way to save their skins, she made up her mind.

A few moments is all the preperation needed to recite the saved
scroll of Transportation. As her son's young form shifted and faded
into a decidedly empty void, she turned and began preperations
for a final stand of metal and mana.

Chapter 7

Near to Breaking

Another boring class, filled with question after question, none
of which Gahdak understood. It was all he could do to keep his
mouth closed and try to be quiet, sitting in the back of the
classroom, though as oversized as he was for this place he
could not keep any small movement silent. A few minutes of
uncomfortable shifting and the loud squeeks and clatters that
accompanied his adjustments was all it took to land him in yet
another spout of quickly reprimanded trouble. The perfectly
thrown wad of spit soaked paper catching him in the temple as
Gahdak slumped dejectedly from the room almost sent him into a
violent rage of destruction and pain, but almost isn't enough
and he made his way to the room of punishment.

Such was the life of the orphan Gahdak, who not only did not fit
here physically, he did not fit in with the other orphans. Even
his soul did not fit here, it strove for the heat, the physical
tests that felt so natural, the martial sparring and blood that
seemed to call so violently to him. Such was his life that he
despised everything about it, and contemplated leaving every
morning and every night. But where would he go, and how would
he survive? Gahdak was no hunter, that could eat and sleep in
any land of Thera by their own means. Gahdak was no priest, that
would wander and beg for food. Gahdak was a violent beast of a
man, as young as he was, that did Not Belong!

Chapter 6

Broken Restraint

The whimpering cries of children heralded a vicious scream of
agony bellowed from the mouth of a grown man. Crashing wood and
then a sudden crack, followed by the fall of something large
and heavy eminated from the open door of the orphans classroom.
More whimpering cries began to be heard in turn with the sound
of thundering steps, just then Gahdak came trudging from the open
doorway. He was covered in splotches of crimson from huge head
all the way to huge toe, even the table leg he clutched in his
large fist was covered in the red goop. It took only moments
for his large gate and resolute steps to deliver him from his
most hated of places.

As the young thick skinned red beast stooped to trudge forth
from the orphanage, dripping cudgel in hand, the final word
of power filled the air. Energies of magic grasped Gahdak in a
clutch that froze his every thought, all that he could do was
watch and feel, feel the hate and rage that boiled in his dark
soul. Small quick measured steps brought Malthies the Defender
into his vision. How dare the old man shake his head in dismay.
How dare he move to stop me finding myself! How DARE HE!

Chapter 5

Failure

Malthies jumped back in sudden astonished shock as the young
giant began to move, rushing haphazardly towards him. He did
not expect this in any way, did not prepare for his chants to
fall out of effectiveness, did not have any sort of balance to
his gait. He felt his long hair flip to one side as a swung
fist crushed his body to the side of the path

Holding the darkness back he made his mind stay out of the depths
that wanted to envelop his fading conscious. He remembered
watching the retracting form of the violent one, wondering what
he could have done to keep this wrong from happening, know that
mana of a fatal nature should have been wield. And yet, as
darkness slipped from the corners of his vision into its center,
his last thought was dismay and sadness that the young giant may
not be able to survive on his own, away from balator.

Nightmares??

Nightmares some would call them, dreams of granduer others, all
that Gahdak new was that his dreams of freedom kept him company
every night, when no one else would. He used his size and
brute unbridled strength to survive, taking what he needed
to eat and slumbering in others places after chasing them off
to find a new place to sleep. His strength and stubborn will
kept him alive, and kept him free, and still he dreamed when
he had the chance to rest.

Looking down at the red splattered
floor, the body before him crumpled
and broken with a smashed skull,
his makeshift cudgel splattered in
so much crimson, to match his
clothes, pants, tunic, all covered
in splotches of red, splotches that
spread as he watches the lifeless
body, spread until all he wears is
the red of the body, the floor
twisting red, his black maroon skin
all that is left of contrast in
this place that he once knew and
hated, red everywhere, everywhere
but the depths of his soul, there..
all that lived was strength
and unbelievable rage.

And then that rage gave forth
into emptyness, but not a lonely
emptyness, an empty of freedom
and choice, an empty to run and
live, to challenge any and all
and push his strength out against
those that would hold it at bay,
for all that he has ever had was
his strength, and no one had
been able to slow the massive
fists of he, no one had.. but
a force had slowed him, tried
to keep the freedom from him,
and suddenly calm tide of empty
gave way to a crashing wave
of need, a need to rid himself
of any that might be able to
hold his strength, that strength
that should never bow to any...

Chapter 3

A life continued.

So many years have passed. Years of blood and sweet, pain and pleasure.
Years where the war raged and years where Gahdak has wished for a life
of simple things, to laze in the sun near a burning village and enjoy
doing absolutely nothing. Yet, through all the vicious hardship and
never ending war he has known only that he does what he must. Gahdak
has grown to know his drive is correct, even if he can not put it to
music like a poet or write such, like a sophisticated statemen.

He has long since gone back to where he grew to smash the long white
beard with the magic words, that had almost imprisoned him. There he
tried, with such a massive amount of violence, to glean the location
of his birth to no avail. Days of silence followed for Gahdak, days
that turned to weeks, that turned to months.. Such a long term of
silence for one accustomed to raging words could not have gone
un-noticed, and yet his brothers let him stew in whatever maelstrom
of emotion raged within.

Finally, one day Gahdak realized that they did not matter. Truth had
shown itself to him in blood and sweet, strength and weakness, good
times and those that were bad. He finally settled on the fact that
those that had abandoned him did so because he was unwanted, the road
he had walked had brought him here, with the knowledge of survival
and the practice of martial combat because This was his family. The
hut men were the only ones that mattered, and the war against those
that lived by the magic, fought by the magic, and survived and were
rescued against those that truly were strong.. by the magic. And
so Gahdak has revowed to crunch the skulls of all those who survive
by the magic and to do so with renewed fervor and rage!

Chapter 2

Visions

Constant rushing water fills the air with a light mist and the soft
calm of almost meditate babble. Sitting and going over the recent
spouts of violent war that he has gloriously participated in, Gahdak
contemplates his movements, to better himself. It does not take long
for the massive Beast to grow lax in this place and let his mind drift.
Visions haunted the darkness, whether they were from within or from
some other source, they pushed at him all the same.

Standing atop a pile of broken
bodies, tree trunk held in his
fist, Gahdak surveys the full
length of carnage. Everywhere
the strange featherless crows
squawk and scrabble, fighting
eachother for even the tiniest
scrap of still warm flesh. At
the farthest edges of his sight
a GIGANTIC SHADOW began to slide
in his direction. Knuckles turn
white as his grip tightens so
dangerously upon the full tree
that he wields so comfortably.
Time almost seems to twist as
the shadows lengthening form
stretches faster and faster,
seeming to widen and thin
at the same time until
the darkness almost
an edge
of black that
s p e e d s
into his
flesh
the

i


Is blinding and the daydream suddenly ripped away, Gahdak, strangely
aware of how uncomfortable he is sits up from the rock he was leaning
back against. Everything seems darker, deadlier, so much more dangerous
in this place. The huts have been his place of calm for some time,
where he could let his guard down and relax his senses.. but that is
gone! Every shadow, every sound, every movement catches his attention
and holds it with stunning precision of mind, for such a creature.
What was it, what did it mean, why him, was something talking to him,
or was it a vision of the future? Such dangerous shadows, so deep and
black, the dead birds, everything dead.. it must mean the night mages.
And yet, the thought of them and what they were capable of seemed
to feel so utterly incapable of the danger that his vision entailed.

Chapter 1

Visions

Floating through the sporatic clouds of his varied dreams the
creature is bombarded with endless images. One of the Greatest
most Ancient Wyrms fall from the heavens to rip the very body
of Thera herself, a great hammer pulsing hungrily as it eats
at the very brain of the Wyrm. An old scarred dwarf wandering
lost in the darkest of forests. A burned smoking Fela curled
into the tightest of balls upon gleaming steps. All these
sights bring a feel of terrible tragedy and weakness but they
fade. Glorious visions of battles great and small, all with
much blood and broken bodies flit through out. And then the
creature that floats through these clouds realize the pattern
they have taken. For he floats increasingly in a spiral, down,
down, down in a spiral. The visions increase with speed as
the spiral tightens and a red tint fills the clouds. The Dwarf
surrounded by battle scared warriors, standing tall yet tired.
Bodies of drow, Robed or clothed in tight black silk, all lying
dead and broken. The Great Wyrm Ember, its body being eaten
by carrion feeders. And the Furry Lady, her clawed hands beckon,
her fur no longer charred. Beckoning closer, and then the visions
bring bright red pain and serenity of the quiet all at once.

The spiral slows until the creature is at the bottom, looking
forward. It rubs its massive right shoulder as it peers ahead
studying the vision of a massive anvil with a hammer laying
upon it. Confused and obviously unnerved the creature decides
to will itself backwards just a ways into the pain and quiet
of the end of the spiral, where it has found serenity in the
truth of war and itself at last.
