The Monomach of the Empress

Deep within the deserts south of the Jade mountain live a hardened nomadic
people. Living in what they in their language call the "Sun's Anvil" they are
tempered by hardship and a constant fight against the harsh climate. They are
also renowned for their fighting abilities, tactics of guerilla strikes and
solitary stealth. But more importantly they are the personal assassins of the
Seantryn Empress, a relationship long ago established.
They are neither evil nor malicious in their actions, but they are
unstoppable in their assignments.
The Monomach, solitary fighters, stand above all others in faithful loyalty.
When a contract is given it is executed without question.
Those who displease the Empress, plot against her or are rumored to hold ill feeling against
the throne are quickly and quietly dispatched. Sometimes whole families have been found slaughtered in
a single night, and in nervous whispers the work "Monomach" is uttered.
