Dregvoshan Vir'koth, the Voice of An Immortal

Description

In a small miniscule manner an ebony colored figure lowers his hood and the
real appearance of a dark priest can be seen. His hair, a jet black is greasy
and matted about his right shoulder mostly tucked within the confines of his
robes. A pair of almost translucent grey eyes seems to absorb the
surrounding light burning with an unholy fervor fettered only by the deep
sockets that contain them. Though his movements are nervously quick an
unpredictable as he twitches you notice the tattered coverings of this rest
of his body. Dented and stained with the putrid remains of blood and flesh
he is covered in a plated mail and about both wrists a pair of matching
etched gauntlets encase his hands. Oddly enough his weapon is firmly griped
within his left hand resting upon its blade the hilt tightly clenched.

A Kiss That Brings Torment
Added Sun Apr 11 06:10:19 2004 at level 5:

*Illustrated in a small mosaic lies the picture of a devilishly evil looking
creature holding the translucent form of a soul in one hand and a flickering
stone in another*

Awaking from a restless sleep Dregvoshan found himself in audience of the
Ancient Trickster... Shocked at the sight of the deep blue imp Dregvoshan
listened quietly as the conspicuous looking character informed him that he
felt drawn to his presence. Dregvoshan concluded that the Ancient godling
felt the torment of his own formless soul, knowing the young priest wanted
the touch of his blessings.

Of course the power the Imp bestowed within Dregvoshan came with a price, a
price almost unbearable with immense pain and confounded emotion. The Imp
taking Dregvoshan's flickering gift plunged his hand within the swirling
depths of his soul and with a simple kiss forged it with the stone. Now the
burden was complete and the priest now had a since of direction and new found
conquest.

The unwavering chain of thought that haunted his mind was gone, he knew now
what he had to do. He must feed the pain as the Imp had uttered, feed it and
it may grow and when it can be controlled it would bring great power from the
suffering of others. And so the trial began Dregvoshan pushed forward
bearing the bane of his existence the tortured feelings twisting his mind
further and further into insanity.

Added Wed Apr 7 13:28:35 2004 at level 1:

*As you read the faded lines of text below you cannot help but notice some
are twisted and reversed and you must decipher them to read further*

Even at a young age Dregvoshan's mental and emotional stability was very
short at best, not that duergar care for such weakness or ailments within
their social ladders but it had an important affect upon his upbringing.
Having been born pale and disturbed, never ceasing to cry or stop acting
distressed. His moods where very random and his environment made him develop
through an even more chaotic path of violent fits and sometimes serenity
during the witnessing of another's pain.

His mother angered and weakened from having such a painful birth gave her son
a last name that was not her own. She was a very superstitious priestess in
her faith and believed that such pain brought a sign of discomfort and
torment for all. Though obviously she held is his birth more than just
another bastard child brought forth by a ravaged old woman her reasoning was
simple. She decided to call him Dregvoshan Vir'koth. Deciphered in duergar
terminology "Dreg" meaning (quiet bringer) and "Vir'koth" meaning (deceiver)
and can be also interpreted as (pain).

Obsessions & Quarks
Added Wed Apr 7 13:04:16 2004 at level 1:

*You read through the pieces of vellum and cannot help but notice a sketching
of a severed finger*

As a child who was subjected to the brutal torturing of other men he has
developed a very unstable range of emotion. He never rests completely his
nervous twitches aching his body and his eyes wander searching for the hand
that might strike him over and over as when he was a child.

He hardly ever lets his guard down enough accept maybe to gain the trust of
another perhaps in one of his schemes. This leads ultimately to one of his
more hidden and darker secrets. While being beaten by a drunken soldier his
right hand was grabbed up and his index finger was cut off. He could only
watch in horror and hold his bloody nub as his mother was also tortured and
brutalized in front of his eyes.

Because of his unstable thought process and his missing finger he is driven
to inspect the hands of everyone he gets close to Searching for the perfect
finger he might take and replace his own. He feels weak and futile when
faced with his "thought" handicap. In fear of persecution and jest he hides
his hands within his gauntlets invoking rage if anyone stares closely at him
or tries to touch them.

He also will engage in conversation with himself when he is alone. He thinks
his own conscious thoughts are an entity put there to guide him helping plot
and calculate the strategy of his goals.

Dregvoshan's Training & Spiritual Acquisition
Added Wed Apr 7 13:00:53 2004 at level 1:

*You discern a noticeable amount of text above which a sacrificial dagger is
depicted*

Dregvoshan's mother was a priestess of the Sha'meth a cult like sect of
duergar who worship the last remaining creatures of the once powerful spider
queen Lloth. Much of his fighting and training was done carrying out the
will of his mothers elder priests and sect overlords. His spiritual drive is
fueled by his will to torture and deceive others. He believes that everyone
must share the pain that has been inflicted upon him. His mind is warped and
twisted from the intense suffering he has survived and the disease his mother
was infested with. The only thing that quenches his thirst is the intense
anguish or surprise of betrayal he is sometimes successful in causing in
victims he chooses worthy enough to suffice.

He usually hunts alone though unpredictable fits sometimes engulf his
rational thought and an alter ego of sorts takes control of his emotions. He
becomes obsessed with calculating the demise of worthy targets whether
bringing them down with numbers at his side or ambushing unsuspecting victims
while their attention is turned. But as with any intense drive fighting does
not fully feed his lust. The satisfaction of confusing others or causing
distrust between honored allies brings him the ultimate gift of
happiness...something he never really experienced.

Dregvoshan's Birth...A rise for Malice
Added Wed Apr 7 12:48:20 2004 at level 1:

*Scribed in a black ink upon a few pieces of tattered vellum and dried flesh*

Dregvoshan was born within the vast caverns and tunnels outside the vaguely
known duergar settlement of Aran'gird. Weak and sickly at first as most
duerg are born he barely survived his adolescent stage a resulting factor
from his mother's only providing profession, a life spent almost entirely
polluted with loathsome acts of worship and lust. His mother once a
priestess of the Sha'meth raised him as she could pushing him to divulge in
the priestly dedication and worship of her dark lords.

As he grew so did the sickness and anger within him. His mind afflicted with
the torment and often painful torture of his mothers companions. A young man
finally arose in vast depths of the Underdark cold and calculating his soul
tainted with the desire for blood and the strife to cause anguish throughout
the world. He left the Underdark finally his lust to explore the reaches
beyond the dark caverns had taken hold of his conscious mind. "What else lies
beyond my pit of torment" he thought to himself as he climbed above the vast
fold of nothingness into the realm of civilized man.

As he crept closure to the surface a bright and odd glow began to reach his
eyes, something he had never seen before in all his few years of being. And
finally he sprung himself up into the bright and colored vegetation filled
world, his squinting eyes throbbing in pain from the intense overbearing
light of the Theran sun.

A new world he had found completely unlike his own and filled with it the
goings on of many creatures and figures he had never seen before. As he
stood in awe of what he viewed the darker taint within him took over his
minds eye. "Look at what we have found young Vir'koth, oh what mischief could
we cause within this land" "The pleasure of deceit will heist you your
power..." "And what dark lords have this world of such wonder hold, certainly
considerable power" "We must...we must find such a Lord to further our
perception and wisdom!"

Quivering with the intense thoughts of pleasure the young robed apprentice
took up his weapon and proceeded into civilization.

Died to Jaeliko in an embarrasing way, then successfully bullied and cajoled all of his gear back. Well done.

Tue Apr 20 20:30:01 2004 by 'Lyristeon' at level 28 (77 hrs):
This guy does an all around great job.

Mon May 17 15:18:57 2004 by 'Velkurah' at level 46 (261 hrs):
Great showdown with Ranak at the end, both of them inches from con death. If Dreg had rotted instead of withered, they both would have died. Anyway, very nice job.
