Can't remember whether I've already posted this, but is it a mistake that: A) observation exp caps at 15k when 30k feels achievable, but difficult B) exploration exp caps at 30k which feels unachievable.
Also do you lose all exploration exp if you log out too soon after the exploring AND too soon since last discussing successfully with the guild master? Just had a few characters of late where, having had to log out right after going through an area, I'm surprised not to get any exploration exp. And it doesn't seem to be pending for later.

For fun, I looked back over some past characters to see where they fell in terms of exploration vs. observation. If I recall I did minimal "gaming" of either. All of these were long-lived.
Exploration: 16k, 21k, 17k, 17k, 16k, 12k, 20k. Observation: 37k, 24k, 19k.
The rest were too old for observation to be listed in the PBF. Of the three that had both listed, one was roughly equal in terms of one vs. the other, and the other two both had more observation XP than exploration.
So it looks for these characters I would have maxed observation but left exploration-derved EP on the table with each of them.
I've said this before, but my personal feeling is that the caps should be reached by roughly ~90% of long-lived characters who are exploring / observing at a "reasonable" level. The alternative is to encourage people to explore / observe at an "unreasonable" level or risk leaving EP on the table.
With that goal in mind I'd probably cap both at 20k.

It's _very_ achievable. Quite a few characters have well over 30k, some well over 40-50k.
>B) exploration exp caps at 30k which feels unachievable.
There are a few characters right now with over 30k, though mid/high 20s is more common.

No. The only reason you would actually lose previously acquired EXP/OXP is if you had some built up pre-discuss/quit and the game crashed. And even then I think it'd be good to your last save but I'm not 100% sure.
