You can't see a thing!
Someone's kicked dirt scratches you.

dirt
Someone is blinded by the dirt in its eyes!
Your kicked dirt scratches someone.

--Anyone think that it should be nearly, if not completely impossible
to dirt kick someone while you, yourself, are blind?

--A cool aspect of this would be that it would be "quick draw" between
two warriors trying to land this. Hmmmm.

Bizarro I'm helping!

I don't see why kicking dirt in someone's eyes should be any more impossible than hitting them with a weapon.

Ok, maybe if somebody had the ability to not exert themselves while fighting, they'd be so quiet that you wouldn't know where they are. But even then, it might be possible (you're swinging your weapon around wildly trying to parry, and either your weapon or you gets hit -- all of a sudden you have a rough idea of where they're at -- not a great chance of hitting them, but not impossible either).

It's a hell of a lot easier to swing a weapon and hit something while blind than it is to kick a precise splat of dirt at someone's face.

Unless you arent going for a precise chunk of dirt. I don't know about you, but I have had a pretty difficult time seeing when sand/dust blows into my eyes and that is about as unprecise as you can get.

Go put a piece of paper on a tree, about 6 ft high. Now kick some dirt
at it with your foot. If that isn't difficult, I don't know what is.

There's a lot things you wouldn't really be able to do while blind. This falls under game balance, I think.

More than that, any character with the actual dirt kicking skill has training far in excess of anything most if not all of us have. RPwise, we have to think of any skill as being something akin to a piece of martial arts. The way I see it, anyone can try to kick a bit of dirt at someone, but that isn't what the dirt kicking skill is at all... no, the skill is far more than just that. What exactly it is I don't know, there's probably many ways to do it, like trip.

I've RP'd trips as everything from a brutal push to a savate kick to the back of someone's knees. I imagine a dirt kick could be anything from striking the ground just right to cause a shower of soil at someone to all but kicking someone in the face and blinding them with the mud on the sole of your boot. I cite these as examples of how seemingly simple combat actions are in fact complicated skills.
