#71171, "weapon crumbling "

I was lvl 10 and someone gave me a spiked iron mace. I get to 11, do a few things and quit for a bite to eat. Log back on, still have mace..I go out and start ranking and while ranking said mace crumbles ...The mace was not dropped in water/a guild/or put in a pit, its not rot death etc etc. Is there some code out there that crumbles gear on low lvl chars? If so can an IMM please explain it, thanks.

and are a cheater.

The mechanics are pretty basic. If a high level enough eq touches high level player's hands and then is passed to a low level player (directly or via mob, doesn't matter), it crumbles after a few dozen hours.

Umiron denies such code is in place, but it doesn't change the facts.

It's happened to me once and I just assumed the dude that gave it to me had left it water or a shrine or something.

Surprised he can be so confident the guy who gave it to him didn't do the same.
