I will be going on vacation for 9 days and was wondering how long before my equipment goes away.

If you have been playing regularly (something like at least every other day) basically none of your limited shinies will go poof when you login again after just 9 days (and go back to playing regularly). YMMV, but that's been my experience.

Even if it all goes poof, rage deleting a high level character with skills trained over gear is dumb.
