A mute player? (Anonymous)Tue 01-Oct-13 04:26 PM
Charter member
#51909, "Mute flaw."

1. Why you cannot discus with the guildmaster when you are mute? (You can still learn skills. And 'discussing' doesn't really mean the word. It can be like practicing)

2. A mute char is not supposed to learn edges? Or they can do it praying? Any other secret ways? Are they out of edges just by design?

No edges, no healer, no oath, no anything that requires speaking.

You are already greatly maledicted. Why no edges?

p.s. I was considering playing another mute char. Nothing stops me other than no edges.

If I had to guess...

I'd imagine because it's really easy to just "never RP" while having the mute edge. So they want to be explicitly clear that you're not taking the edge for the extra edge points and are doing it purely for RP reasons.

Not having edges is a pretty significant kick in the junk whereas being just mute can be worked around if you don't need to sing or cast.

but I can answer that if you play said mute character without edges, you might just learn you do fine without edges in the first place!

I would bet though, that the answer to your question is: It's a flaw, it's supposed to make you weaker.

I suppose if you really can't stand the idea of not having edges, you could hope for immortal ones or just do a mute guy that isn't really mute, as in don't take the flaw. Like you took an oath of silence that can only be broken for discussing edges! heh.

Just remove any edge points this flaw might give you. So no one should take it for power gamy?
