#467, "Item Material Types"

Well I've been meaning to ask this for a while, so here it is. Is there a move to minimize the already minimal number of non conventional item types? (eg heartstone etc). A while back I noticed a certain dagger had been changed from flesh to steel. Sure, it got a +1 ave and a +2hit (from memory), but I bet 99% of thieves/assassins/warriors out there would have preffered it to remain as a flesh type. So, whats the deal with that?

Not that I'm aware of.

I don't get this at all...why would you prefer it remains flesh type?

That dagger in particular was changed because the blade is steel, and the handle is flesh, making the weapon predominantly steel. It just makes sense.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Z's point was that an item's material is determined by the area author's description, not what you want it to be.

There are other materials that will suffice, like ivory. Reminds me though, while I've got used to pressing the nerves in sharks' knees, I did have to laugh when I managed to chop of the horns from a unicorn. (The connection is that the horns of a unicorn is an ivory dagger, but that it is a contradiction.)
