#4248, "Neutral ethos Outlanders get the shaft?"
Edited on Thu 01-Apr-04 03:28 AM

I've been reading through the helpfiles for Outlander and I saw something that makes no sense to me. Neutral ethos Outlanders don't get wind walk, and don't seem to get anything to replace it. What's the reasoning here, to try to make Outlander chaotic only? I think this will only lead to people being a chaotic outlander just to get the extra power and not because it fits their role. Without windwalk isn't it going to suck for all non-pathfinding classes to be an Outlander and get around? I mean it's not like they get the uber cabal powers to begin with. Also no shops means getting means to fly is going to be a pain in the ass as well. So do neutrals get the shaft or does their comparable power not have a help file or maybe it's still in the works?

Alright, I'll admit it. I've played a neutral ETHOS Outlander , and I was let down that I get shafted because I'm not chaotic. There is no power that replaces wind walk for neutrals, we just get one less power(One of the better ones). So I'm going to be constantly out of movement hanging in the wilderness, and I have to find some kind of easy supply of fly. The fly isn't the biggest deal just an annoyance(I hope), but the lack of pathfinding is just gonna suck for someone whose whole life is spent in the wilderness. The reason I posted was I thought maybe I'm just missing this supposed mystery power, or there was good reason for only chaotics getting wind walk. I should have realized I'd get the automatic reply of try one and find out. I'm hoping one of the Outlander Imms can explain it to me, because even Andrlos seemed suprised by it. Thanks in advance for any Imm response.

There is no additional power for Neutral-ethos Outlanders. We're aware that this fact will skew the cabal towards the Chaotic ethos, and we're fine with that. All part of the design.

Booooo! Hisssss! It was already skewed towards Chaos just because of it's philosophy. I mean it was already like 7/10 chaotic and 3/10 neutral, now it's going to be 99% chaotic and 1% poor stupid me. Why punish Neutral characters? I just think there is a better way to do it, then take away a power that makes the many many down sides of being an outlander not quite so bad. It's like taking away true sight from berserks because you want more defenders. I love the cabal so I guess I'll just grin and bear it, but I really don't think you need this in place to get a vast majority chaotic cabal. Are you sure you guys can't come up with a cooler more imaginative way to shape the cabal?

P.S. I know I'm just spitting in the wind here

You're thinking of alignment. Goodies, Neutrals, and Evils all get different powers. You only get wind walk if you're chaotic. There are no powers that only the neutral(ethos) get.

After a nuetral chaotic outlander, I thought it was even a little too good of the powers i got. Anyhows, figure it out before you complain, or just play one. Gossip hens
