Is there still a magical sleep protection? I thought there used to be a timer on it like blackjack/strangle have the physical one. I just fought a necromancer and got slept and spelled up, then woken, fled, and slept again. I could not wake myself. There was no timer for magical sleep protection. I got slept four times in less than 15 minutes real time.

in the difference in the way sleep skill/spells work?

- sleep spell (can multisleep with diminished chances)

- blackjack, garrotte, weaponbutt, knock-out traps, choke, cranial (100% protection-timer, even on failed attempts)

- poisoner, h2h stun (repeated attempts allowed on fail, but poisoner doesn't grant physical sleep protection; not sure about stun, it has been so long)

For example, trap can be placed when someone isn't even in the area.

Blackjack can ko people in combat and cease combat.

Stun can ko people in combat but without ceasing combat.

Protecting yourself from the sleep spell reliably is much easier than doing it from blackjack.

Resisted sleep give free hits to the victim on the attacker, etc.

And different senses of balance or lack thereof.

It's magic. You are fairly aware it's coming, but there isn't anything you can really do about it. Just like if I cast fireball at you, and I'm going to do it again.

>- blackjack, garrotte, weaponbutt, knock-out traps, choke,
>cranial (100% protection-timer, even on failed attempts)

These are physical attacks that you can better prepare for, think of yourself as a short period of adrenaline-fueled hyper-awareness of the shadows, what may be lurking in them, or attempts to knock you out again. That's not going to stop magic.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

There are rapidly diminishing returns on repeated sleep attempts, but it doesn't (and hasn't) worked the way you're thinking.
