#39243, "Who is the *real* Emperor of the Empire?"

If I am an Emperor and I don't want player A to be a Warmaster, but Imms want player A to be warmaster, what would happen?

For example, Imm promoted player A to warmaster spot, Emperor logged in and demoted him. Will he be punished? Or is it ok (reason of the Emperor, for example, "I don't see him fitting for this position" or "I don't like him and he is not my councillor").

In other words, who are *actually* ruling Empire - players (Emperor) or Imms? How much freedom Emperor have?

The only time I mess with cabal leadership/operations

1.) There's no one to do promotions.
* I think history will show I look for reasons to promote (yes anyone)
* I'll establish a couple of elites, and see how they handle promotions
* This generally means there's no sect lead, and I'll be looking to fill that as quickly as possible.

2.) There's no Emperor and only half a council.
* I fill out the seats and then we vote.

3.) You got straight busted breaking Imperial Law.
* I'm probably a little softer than most would be on this.

4.) Emperor purposely holds council seats open. I'll fill them, and let the rest unfold.

5.) Actually typing the command that starts a vote for emperor or coup

I let the cabal run itself. The rest of the time I feel like it's my job to watch and toss out xp. I like doing that. Obviously I have characters I like more than others, and you'd always rather see "your boy" on top, but at the end of the day we stay out of it.

It's rare that we step into these situations if there is a sitting Emperor. If there is no Emperor we'll usually fill the council, call a vote, and get on with life.

Ultimately...the Immortals, but the Emperor has lots of freedom, and it's rare that the Immortals step in. The politics is for you to play, not us.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

So, if the Emperor want to keep one of the seats empty (to prevernt rebellion), he will be allowed to do so?

If they leave the seat open and there are viable candidates, the Immortals will fill it. If your idea of running the Empire is to not have a Council, or enough empty seats to prevent an attempted usurping of the throne, chances are you won't be Emperor very long.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

I was about to say, this is pretty much the one thing you can't get away with.

If you leave Warmaster open for a while and show no signs of being in a rush to fill it, sooner or later Enlilth will probably promote someone. If you find a reason to demote that guy, it'll probably stick -- but you're going to get a council, one way or another.

Players have the power, except if they decide to keep all the ranks below them empty to remove risk of overthrow.
