#1326, "SHOUT command"

Syntax: SHOUT <direction> <text>

Picture an assassin and his group in the Eregion. Assassin goes west to a gathering of feasting elves and throws some dust. Then some poison smoke.

Most of the time the groupmates will just "scan west" "scan west" "scan west" until they see the necessary signs... That would be solved with this simple command.

::: SHOUT east Come join me!

People in the room to the east would see:

Shouting (from the west): Come join me!

Something like: You cup your hands around your mouth and shout to the east.

A phenomenally easy command to implement, and it seems it would have some use. Taunting could even be incorporated into this, as someone could stand outside another's guild and SHOUT into it, or something.

In your scenario, assassin already has excellent tool, named gt.
"gt" is certainly easier than shout "e", plus you don't need to keep
track of directions.

As for taunting... well, perhaps. But there are few things that can't
be done via "tell".

For me, it looks more like needless complication of interface that
something really useful.

...but I've always found group tell to be a detraction from roleplay, so I try to stay away from it.

Allowing someone the added ability to SHOUT would be a localized "YELL" in the sense that it is a public action, can be heard by whomever is in earshot, and give the player yet another tool to RP with.

Yes, you are correct, they could just GROUP TELL for the rest of the party to come, but I mentioned my turn off regarding that up above.

If keeping track of a direction is unwanted, perhaps the SHOUT command would instead be a true-localized-YELL in that it would echo only to people in your current room and any adjacent rooms, no more, no less.
