In light of same-race killings that have been mentioned as of late, what about a racial request for goods and neutrals. There is less of a moral dilemma killing those of your own race if you're evil, but for neutrals and goods, there can be big internal consequences.

So here's what I suggest:

Good requesting from good stays the same

Good requesting from same-race neutral - 75% chance to succeed the request, failure in doing so still causes the same meditation time.

Neutral requesting from same-race good - 75% chance as above. Failure is same meditation time.

Neutral requesting from same-race neutral - 60% chance that they'll give it to you, failure is meditation time.

There are other ways this could be played with, like trading a like-item for something. A sword for a sword, armor for armor, etc. Or, instead of meditation time for failure, you can't request from that person for a day. RP-wise, this could be construed as spending time trying to convince that person to let go of a favored item. Think of Liu Bei trying to convince Zhuge Liang to join his fight for the unification of China. It took him three visits to do so! (I heart obscure references)

The item exchange thing is sort of a cool idea. I'd make it so that the item being exchanged must meet the following criteria:

1. Able to be worn by the mob to which it's being given. So, no giving evil-only gear to a neutral mob, two-handed weapons to a mob already wielding a shield (unless that mob is a giant), etc.

2. Must be of the same item type (e.g. sword, about body, ring, etc.)

3. Must be of higher level *and* higher value than the item it's being exchanged for.

After the exchange, the mob would wear the new item.

As for good vs. neutral, I can see how a good-aligned mob might actually be *less* inclined to give an item (or exchange an item) with a neutral character than with a good character. If I'm a goodly paladin who wants to see evil smited, I'm not sure I'm going to give my sword to any neutral shmo that walks by. I'm going to need some level of confidence that the person I'm giving it to is going to use it for causes I approve of.
