An update on the help page regarding empowerment might be in order. There are still warnings saying that non empowered priests, Paladins, and Druids will not get any of their higher level powers/supps without it. While it's generally better to be empowered as those classes part of the reason for the change was not to discourage people playing those classes while they wait to speak to their IMM. The older (now) message under the class section currently discourages those who have not yet even played said classes based on the old system.
