#482, "You know what would be cool..."


          

I was thinking about all our old players who are out there not playing. I wonder if having an "Under New Management" grassroots thing might not be a good idea.

Basically saying that Valg has moved on, and that Daevryn and Zhulg have teamed up as IMPs to make CF a better place - and providing a positive mission statement that points out problems of the past and how the staff is committed to solving them. Also provide a vision of CF in the future, goals the staff is working toward etc.

The outcome we're going for is that people will hear the vision, recognize the positivity of the new leadership and poke their heads back in to check CF out.

Just a thought. *shrug*

How is it that we're under new management? Nep has been an IMP longer than me, and I've been one longer than Valg, and Valg is the one who is absent (who knows, he may come back one day).

The only problem I see with this, is I'm not sure we've got a good idea about what the problems are, or how we want to solve them. It's something I've been kicking around, but it also gets dangerously close to what I do as a day job as a manager at Microsoft, and honestly, CF is my escape from that.

I've yet to see a Vision statement provided by anyone anywhere that really does anything to inspire folks. It sounds pretty, but I think the reality is much less.

Literally? No, you're not under new management. The concept is used all the time though to give the impression that it's worth checking out again. For example, "under new management" "new and improved" "now with bleach" "grand REopening"

All these are examples of marketing moves that are really just a remix of the original.

Okay, I can respect that. I'm not really pushing this, just entering it as food for thought. Sounds like you've had the same thought.

It's not the statement itself, but the perceived attitudinal shift therein that creates the word of mouth we're looking for. For example, when I have told friends about certain staff shifts and policy changes they have popped their heads in to check it out. My suggestion is to try to create that on a larger scale.




BTW, if someone has a better idea, or another idea to create the same outcome I'm all ears. Admittedly this is an idea inchoate.
