Chapter 42

The Sun shines, no longer as bright, as the Sunwarden has fallen. A dream is
but a part of hope, a little thing that anyone can and should have. Maes
dream was of a savage Thar-Eris, alas the Ancients did not see it that way
for how can one mortal dare. The Tree turned against Her, in turn becoming
stronger for removing an infected branch, or did it become weaker by limiting
the freedom to dream and desire?

Rage mixed with sorrow, anger, despair and fear of what Fate would reveal,
could be felt in the Virgin Wood and the Graveyard of Galadon. Blood was shed
throughout the Church of the Lost, no one was safe from the blessings of Her
Lord. No amount of vengeance would fix this, for there was nothing to be
mended.

Mae, alone, battered, and hated by most of Thera thought of a happy memory,
when Ergush found her in the Azreth Wood, in her youth, pain of Loss fresh,
but seeking to serve the Wilds. She smiled solemnly remembering when the
Ancient of Spirit granted her place amongst the Tree. A simpler time for
simple beings she thought to herself, as she headed north, tears of joy and
pain streaming down her face, to the Mountains of the Redhorn and beyond.

Chapter 41

As she sat, basking in the moonlight ruined square, He came to Her. The pain
in His eyes only served as a catalyst for Her to take the next step. She is a
child of Nature, lured to the desolation of the wilds to deal with the
failures of her society which in her mind led to the death of her most loved
parents.

However, centuries of His attention has begun to take a toll, she now sees
Nature or Thar-Eris as an entity of Chaos, a beautiful part that is both
merciful and merciless, it is like a sphere in which sands colored in light
and dark swirl about in a vessel made from the glass representing the balance
and fortitude of the Sentinels. The Outlanders are strong now, she has seen
Imperials, the Brigade and Scions come to the aid of order, a sign that Chaos
is on the brink of being released. Thar-Eris shall not return unless Chaos is
truly unleashed, then true freedom can be found for those strong enough to
survive.

She mourns for what is to come, many shall fall, even those who she loves,
but Loss is something to be cherished by all, even more so by the Blessed.
She feels He will make Her see it, experience the anguish of those too weak
to survive, but it will strengthen their Spirit, she tells herself, yes, yes
it will.

Chapter 40

Mae is beginning to understand, between her sorrow fueled madness and push to
make Thar-Eris a reality. The Reaver, Shaman, drow, is her nightmare and
dream. Everything she wants to be, but cannot be, the strength and weakness
of her elvish heritage, the pride and disappointment of her parents, her Lord
is truly wise. She looks upon the Reaver, pride, disgust and perhaps jealousy
permeate her thoughts. Did her dream become this, should Mae cleave with her
ever bloody axes, skin it, and carry what is left as trophy?

Let fate decide, for this is the age of Chaos and Savageness, and the
Sunwarden, the Light in the Darkness of Despair, the Priestess of Rahsael has
done her part.

Chapter 39

Mae looks upon them, they have become renowned.Priests, Elder Prophets,
Reavers, Villagers, Zealots, even members of the Tribunal. She thought she
would never find someone to make a family, but Her Lord, granted her this
wish. A family born from Despair, rising through the ashes, with only the
strongest able to survive and bear the scars of their pain. As the wolves
take down the weakest of her offspring, she mourns them, adding to the sorrow
that now drives her existence.

Will her Lord bless her with seeing them all turn to ash? They are all weak
humans and other short-lived races, another lesson and blessing imparted by
Rahsael to his High Priestess. Nothing more painful than a mother seeing
their offsprings pass before them.

As she was born from the despair of the death of her own parents, guiding her
to the Cavern of Lost Souls, she waits to see which, if any will join her in
faith and fated sorrow.

Chapter 38

The children that experienced the fire in the Ardenwood Manor have begun to
be drawn to the Priestess like moths to the flame. They seek to understand
why, a person a thing to blame, but this like trying to blame Fate and not
looking within themselves to find strength from pain and despair. The former
Prophet of the Light laid blame on Mae, in which Mae finds most satisfying.
Her Lord told her a reason of what happened thus she shall tend to them as a
shepherd does a flock, knowing full well that some shall fall prey to the
wolves of Thar-Eris.

Chapter 25

The day has come, Mae wasmarked by her Lord. Loss accepted, projected, and
brought to bear, some rose to the occasion, others fell into darkness. She
accepted what she wished most, to serve her Lord, as a priest, was not to be,
she had to give to receive such is the path of the blessed. The mark changed
her, she felt it. The Light within Mae changed, it does not shine brighter,
it now shines in a different shade. Mae will guide those who seek the
mourner, and make those who seek to avoid Loss, the mourned.

Chapter 14

Mae has heard rumors of the Plane of Shadow and that the some within the
Fortress seek to enter, for what she does not know. She assume the zealots
within the cabal are seeking to spread the light into places where it does
not exist. Mae is no planar expert, but after discussing with Admund, Thar
Eris, her plane, must is paradise. Thus Planar beings must be working gain
access to paradise. It matters not be they angels or demons, they do not
belong on in Thar Eris, they have no place within her embrace, and all
measures should be taken so that these beings are not allowed the chance to
enter.

Likewise members of the Fort shall be provided guidance from natures point of
view, to the dangers and consequences giving access to those beings not of
this plane to her, and explaining that there will be a cost. Wardens will
look to them, brothers and sisters of the Light, as the cause of this
imbalance as opening portals between planes if something not of Thar Eris
having access to Her. The brighter the light shines, the longer the shadows
cast. Wardens shall be instructed not to assist in gaining access to or
venture into the Plane of Shadow. They are to do what they can to counsel, in
ways they deem acceptable, to stop or at least delay the opening of the
portal.

However, as a follower of the Lord of Loss, these beings, should they gain
access, must be shown that daring to enter paradise is not without cost, loss
shall take its toll on these beings. How dare they assume to defile her with
their reckless magics and schemes and expect those of Thar Eris to stand idly
by. She is subconsciously excited about feeling the pain of doing battle
against something not of this world and the chance for the cycle to begin
again. From ash and destruction does renewal return. She must seek counsel
from Admund, and hear out the Nightreaver, as to seek answers from the
Ancients to prepare for what is coming.

Chapter 24

Mae kept her promise, she went to place where Targung asked, the shrine of
Lord Jormyr. The shaman was not a hollow soul, it lived and died as he saw
fit, in conflict, and war. He was true to his faith, in Maes eyes, and in
the end she wished he would have tore off the yoke of Imperial oppression, to
wreak vengeance against those he served. Lord Jormyr allowed Mae and
Arjandrou to visit the Statues, faded, and names forgotten. She felt a
kinship to them, knowing her end would come, she may be mourned, as well, but
would also be forgotten in time. Lord Jormyrs presence was palpable in the
cavern, almost stealing all the breath from her lungs, the power of
destruction was overbearing, while the vigil was brief, Mae would forever
remember the encounter.

She would mourn and remember those worthwhile, that lived life to the fullest
and willing to accept the loss that was always waiting for them. She mourns
Admund and Targung now, polar opposites, but were not hollow souls.

As she and the bard travelled back to the Tree, she suddenly stopped in the
Tahril mountains, something willed her to mention, Conjurers. Suddenly a rage
filled inside Mae, the rage of Her, Thar-Eris, the mere thought extra planar
beings conjured filled her with anger, so much anger. All of those awake in
the Tree felt it as well, all were Wardens, all agreed that conjurers, even
those of the Light, must be brought down, their blood perhaps sating Her
anger for a brief while.

While all this, she has found the locations the items of power, identified by
the Lord of Loss, her newfound, anger driven bloodlust for all things
associated with conjuration she sees as a sign from Her, that she is
supportive of Maes path she has chosen, the path of the Lost.

Chapter 23

Enlightenment is a difficult path, Mae knows she will see those of the Light
fall, and perhaps not gather themselves back up to drive on toward their
goals. But the Light must be prepared, the weak must be shed, those willing
to understand that the preservation of the Light, is directly tied to the
protection of Her. The Light is strengthened by loss or risk becoming
complacent.

As the Light becomes stronger, so shall the Reavers and Sentinels rise. They
shall challenge the Light, which in turn shall cull those unable to see what
must be done for Thar-Eris. As the branches are pruned, they shall grow back
stronger. The Trees bark shall become as Iron.

Conflict is life, fated to occur for the cycle to continue. She will be there
to provide guidance, solace, and chaos to ensure as the Sunwarden, should the
Ancients continue to find her worthy of such responsibility. For Mae this is
meaningful loss, violence with a purpose.

Violence without purpose shall occur as well, Mae shall be there as well, to
explain that those who experience this must harden, become stronger, so they
become the loss with purpose upon those who attempted as Mae now calls,
hollow violence.

Chapter 22

Enlightenment has come in the form of failure, through this, is she beginning
understand what it is to be blessed. Before she focused on pain, of body, but
now sorrow and frustration are her new lessons. It is not enough for one to
state things, one must live them. Wiser words never spoken, she then shared
her want and willingness to drop her axe and staff, and become the wrath of
Her Lord. He promised a cost, she yearns for it, for it will forge her
stronger still, should her Spirit not just be a hollow thing.

Chapter 21

Her Path of Loss, a Most Holy One

Mae, in her many years, has now decided on what path she will embark. A path
that will cost much with no guarantee of success, as those blessed to know
and crave loss. She will become the wrath of Rahsael, she will seek to
become a Shaman, so she can truly impart the gifts of her Lord. She will pen
a scroll to him, so there is no doubt. She will spend more time at his
shrine, in hopes of gaining further enlightenment. From this place, far to
the West, she will perch, look for those willing to make the trek through the
to preach to them of the Blessed Lost.


She will tie the preaching to Thar Eris, for how better to show the
uninitiated the power of loss, but through the importance of the cycle of
life, death, and the renewal. She is the Sunwarden, the beacon of light in
the dark woods, the true path in which the dark, exists, in equal balance, as
tragedy will always come, but only those willing to survive the dark night,
will see the sun rise again.

Why now, after so many years learning her craft, mastering many things?
Because the cycle drives her, to strengthen both her spirit, body, mind she
is to be reborn, stronger than ever, but at a cost only her Lord can gift
her.

Chapter 20

Mae and Admund had words, regarding the upcoming fellowship between the
Outlanders and Fortress. Admund was wary, as it may lead to conflict, the
Harbringer always thinking of the Reavers in the Tree, ensuring both Warden
and Reaver never gain too much strength. Once Mae mentioned pruning, and how
it can make a Tree, or rather the Tree stronger, caused Admund to lead the
Sunwarden to the Dark Woods.

His lesson to Mae was violence, while none fell, there was active discourse
between the two, during the dance of axe and staff. Mae believes that Admund
thought to show that violence between those of the Tree was not the way, as
it may weaken, Her.

What Admund did not figure out is that pruning for Mae meant all branches,
Wardens, Sentinels, and Reavers. No weak branch should be allowed to grow
twisted, and weaken the entire Tree. Prune away those that are not strong
enough to survive the harshness of life, for only those of strong stock can
hope to provide renewal, balance, and pain to help Her return.

She also found Theorendus in the past, consumed with some kind of task, Mae
did her best to disrupt whatever was being done. While she fell, in the
defense of Her, she called on preservation, and fed her bloodied corpse to
Her as a sacrifice to heal what the shaman has caused. She shared the
encounter with the Marshall, the Harbringer, and Laurandt, the former
Cardinal, in which all were concerned.

Mae knew her sacrifice was needed, to show that the Light, in all aspects if
turning on Theorendus, which in turn has caused the loss to manifest not just
on, he who was once the Captain of the Fortress, but also the organization as
a whole. For how could one, who cherished the light so, be willing to slay
the Sunwarden, which he could have avoided through his many prayers.

Chapter 19

The brighter the Sun shines, the longer the Shadow cast. This is how Mae sees
the world, no matter how much good is done, compassion, kindness, shown,
there will be an equal action on the side of darkness. This is the true path
of the light, be that beacon in the darkness, knowing that without that
darkness, all would be just blinded by the power of the Sun, a world without
the cycle.

Those lightwalkers blinded by zeal, like those willing to open portal and the
Plane of Shadow, to spread the Light, do so without fully understanding the
possible harm it can cause. Perhaps in a place like that, the Light does
exist, but in a way not understood by those of Thar Eris. When She is ready,
she will let us, who heeded her call, know.

For the Fortress, many condemned and did not support travelling to the Plane
of Shadow, the Captain was isolated is his task. Maeneekoni played her part,
voted against the war, knowing it was to fail. Fate had guided the Fortress
and Refuge to share in the fates of both Admund and Theorendus. This loss
was to happen, when the Orb was placed within the Refuge, her Lord, smiled.
The Light was blinding for sometime, this loss, even Mae felt, on her spirit
but feeds it a as well. The cycle has simply continued, crushing those
unwilling to understand this.

Those lightwalkers blinded by zeal, like those willing to open portal and the
Plane of Shadow, to spread the Light, do so without fully understanding the
possible harm it can cause. Perhaps in a place like that, the Light does
exist, but in a way not understood by those of Thar Eris. When She is ready,
she will let us, who heeded her call, know.

She thanks her Lord, for having the opportunity to experience this profound
loss. What other mysteries will he show her next?

Chapter 18

The more she hears of the Plane, and how both Theorendus and Admund came from
that place, through some sort planar magic, the more she feels both have done
their part to avoid the completion of the cycle, and accept their fate.
Theorendus by sheer accident focused on saving more of his kin and Admund
striking a bargain through a deal to escape the place, the details shift
depending on which of the outworlders she speaks to.

She has penned a scroll, letting know that access to the Shadow Plane is
something that goes against the Her, and harms Her. This loss cannot be
prevented, it has occurred, even before Mae woke from the primeval dream, but
the Tree can and will learn from it, to return the favor of pain to those who
caused it.

Wardens are to do what they must, be it word or blood to attempt to limit
exposure of darkness to Thar Eris. But Mae knows the time for words has
ended, if she sees anyone attempt to open that plane, the pain of loss shall
be inflicted on those involved, regardless of their inclination to the light.
Mae has always been ready to accept the cost to her soul, her spirit, for
Thar Eris.

It pains her that these two, once allies, Mae would refer to them as friends
in many ways, may be the source of the harm to Her, they feed on each other,
pulling all into the conflict. However, she welcomes this pain, it is a path
for them reclaim the loss that was avoided when they were freed from the
Shadow Plane.

These trials shall make those who survive stronger for it, some will seek
blood, while others shall seek to understand but all shall look to process,
and eventually accept the toll that must be paid for these actions.

Chapter 17

The Lord of Loss, allowed Mae to haze upon him, gifted her with visions her
parents, and hearing her mothers voice, in the dark woods near the Tree. Her
Spirit fed on the events, the joy of feeling her parents once again, also
caused pain not felt since their deaths. But her parents are no longer of
this world, they not belong, it would unnatural for them to be here, it was
their Fate. Even though the pain was great, it hit her waves and in between
these waves of pain were moments of sweet memories of her childhood. Much
like waves lapping on the shore of the Sea of Despair. Her next task was
passed, in which she will conceal from all, only her Lord knows. Told to
discard things of Shokai, she wore to remind her of the folly of being
blinded by the light, were put all in the well. She belongs to him now, she
has decided to delve in true loss, the Mysteries await.

Chapter 16

Schemes have put the Fortress and Thar Eris in a collision course, for pain,
blood, and loss. Only those with strength of spirit shall emerge from the
test, but the weak shaft shall be reaped. Those unaccustomed to loss, shall
fade away, Mae, will be there to guide those, walking the thin path, to a
resurgence or the grave so renewal can take place. While no directly
involved, she has been sucked into the event, she welcome the chance to
experience what will happen, next, and the true meaning behind it.

Chapter 15

I pen this scroll in response to the Harbringer missive as well as to share
our thoughts on interactions with the shaman Theorendus. Through the
discussions he believes he must find his kin which requires he continue
venturing to that place. However, in our discussions he did not speak of
shadow Admund mentioned, which is what we were attempting to stop, as
whatever passed through is not of Thar Eris. What I find interesting is that
in our conversations he did not mention anything of the shadow escaping from
the Plane, did this happen post our conversation, or was it omitted on
purpose?


Theorendus admits he will not stop, those of the Fortress will be dragged
into his personal crusade to find his kin, through defense of a fellow
lightwalker, as Admund hunts him. While zeal blinds most of that place,
Theorendus is not blinded, he is clear in his purpose for his kin, and he
prepared for the loss that will surely come from this. The shaman, while I do
not feel is an enemy of nature, does willingly cause an imbalance the cycle
by opening this portal. He does so repeatedly even after being told it will
put him at odds with those sworn to protect her.

While most of the Fortress are blinded by the light they claim to protect and
spread, some like the Cardinal, feel an unease of entering the Plane of
Shadow. Theyve not found any beings of light there as of yet, calling into
a question why the Fortress would venture there, which shows a split in their
ranks.

Regardless, we are now past the point of assumption, if
indeed this shadow being passed through to Thar Eris. Like Admund said, our
concern was that, and it occurred. If they not stop these visits to the
accursed place, then we must ensure they do not have the ability to do so.
What action must be taken, is something that will be left open to
interpretation by the Wardens. I will not ask them to battle those of the
light, the choice must be theirs. They must weigh the loss that it will cause
on their Spirit, if they harm another being of the light.


If Theorendus, is labelled to be an enemy of nature, we of the Sun shall try
to guide him back to Her, be it by blood and by word. But, the toll on the
Spirit shall be heavy, as this will likely drag other of the light into a
fight that will strengthen the other enemies of Her.

Chapter 13

Sunwarden Mae! The power of the spirit, forged through loss, can reach even
the highest of perches. The Ancient Ergush, asked of her to lead the Wardens,
a great honor for one so, young. Admund was offered up as a mentor to Mae,
another soul weighed down in immense loss, the perfect teacher. Instructed to
grow the Warden presence in the Tree, she enlisted the help of the bard
Arjandrou, to pen a missive to inform the masses of the Tree, and path of the
Warden. However, words from Ancient Ergush, in passing about not being
aligned with Lord Rahsael. To Mae, Spirit links all, but she is but a mortal,
she does not know the plots of the Gods, however, she is someone curious.

Chapter 26

The world in her eyes is shrouded in Darkness. Mae seeks to follow the path
to ensure the Light is strong, and able to stay alight within the Darkness.
All of the Light need be tested, bloodied, battered and then rebuilt to
better serve the Light as well as their chosen path, be it a hater of magic,
a blind zealot, chaos monger, those of the Tree, and even a slave to the law.
The Light is too often seen as a binding of sorts, a common cause, but it is
not the case. It is a weakness that is often used by the Darkness to lure and
eventually decimate the Light.

Like Mae strengthens items of nature she dons as armor, she seeks to
strengthen those of the Light, by word and blood. Those of the Light who harm
Her, in anyway are hunted for the act. She has slayed those of the Light,
even those of elvish blood, for harming Thar-Eris. The hope is that the
defeated become strengthened by their Loss, if Mae is the victor, Her soul
suffers, and she accepts this pain and loss. For when Mae fights, it to the
death, she will not hold back regardless of the opponent. Through these
trials, she hopes some will return to Thar-Eris, but regardless the Lord of
Loss needs his due.

Those of the balance and darkness, shall also receive the offer to help them
mourn, for all deserve the chance to learn from pain.

She also seeks to increase those who would visit the Cathedral of Loss, she
will offer solace to those she defeats and defeat her, so they understand why
and how they can gain strength from the experience.

Chapter 27

Mae slows down, the four hundred years walking Thera has finally caught up to
the elf. While looking at Mae, she is still a physical specimen, moving with
ageless grace, middle-age has come. She has seen others wither away to husks,
old age taking them much quicker than her, such is the blessing and curse of
the elven race.

The blessing of Thar-Eris has slowed down her aging, while she has always had
pain of spirit and emotion, the aches of time have begun to show. However,
for what she has lost in physical prowess, she has gained in cunning. Such is
the path of the Blessed, accepting loss, paying the price, knowing that
something may be gained at a price, always a price.

Her ageing is a payment to her Lord, confirms the cycle still continues, also
strengthening Thar-Eris. While Mae mourns the loss of her youth, she
celebrates that she is one step closer of being reunited with her family. But
she knows she cannot go too quickly to death, so she must continue to suffer
without them.

Chapter 28

Maes pact, with her Lord has commenced and signed with her own blood and
the blood of the innocents, those of the Light, cost Mae part of her soul.
Those who were willing to die for their beliefs were those slain by her
blades, a fitting sacrifice, for both Maes soul and their flesh. Her
Lords ritual showed her once again that all causes have a cost, for even
the greater good is tainted with the guilt of those who seek to attain it.

Maes guilt is that she felt it easy to cleave those guards who threw
themselves at her when warranted. Their deaths weigh on her soul, but she
seeks no redemption, for it is the cost to strengthen the Light. She was a
Martyr that became baptized by the blood of the innocent.

Chapter 29

Mae through guidance and coaxing convinced the felar Arthyrr to pledge. This
action also caused the Ancients to proclaim that his path shall not be an
easy one, which is welcomed by Mae. He must pay a tithe for seeking
enlightenment so late in his life. This is also a loss to civilization and
the Light represented by the Fortress, for they fail to understand the
brighter the light the longer shadows are cast.

Loss to so many factions is a blessing to her Lord, and continues to feed the
great cycle in Maes eyes.

Chapter 30

Through the death of Hararhar, in the Ruins of Mathien, slayed by the elvish
sentries, the Shadow Sword of Scanlon came to be carried by Mae.

Forged in darkness to battle the dark-elves and willing to be wielded by one
of the Light, Mae felt to kinship to it. Always asking to be used in pursuit
of violence above all other weapons. For evil at times must be done to
advance the cause of the Light. As she wielded it, it felt as the sword had
always belonged to her. The connection was so much that she needed to offer
it to her Lord.

Thus, she travelled from the ruins to the Church, bowed to the statue of her
Lord. She whispered prayers of offering to Rahsael and she placed the
legendary artifact before his statue. As she walked away, the sword crumbled
into dust, she felt pain, pleasure, and finally relief that perhaps the sword
was accepted.

Chapter 31

Maes path continues, her personal loss had become stagnant, unevolved. The
blood of the hunt stain her axes, the blood of innocents and the wickede,
permanently. Her mark taken, so many lessons learned and more to follow.
While she focused on death to impart renewal, strengthening the Tree, the
call of Thar-Eris answered by more, the coin needed to be flipped.

Renewal shall be her focus, as Helena said, Mae needs to be in the Sun to be
the Sunwarden. The Reavers now number many, let them reap the fields now, Mae
shall sow what was planted to ensure once her time has passed the new Wardens
shall continue the path. Guide those who have felt the blessings of Her Lord,
so they learn from their sorrow.

However, should any harm Her, hunted they shall be.

Chapter 32

Teetering on the edge of damnation, Maeneekoni returned home, a place dark
and cold. Her penance fulfilled, the Lord of Loss, keeper of her Spirit,
revealed many things, all highlighting her failures and changing assumptions.
She now carries the sorrow of the innocents that fell to her axes, never to
forget them, for if she did, she would fall into bloodlust once again.

Her heart still holds the Sun, as thus she will help guide those who seek
enlightenment, but letting them know of the cost, there is always a cost.

Chapter 33

Her Lord, revealed his origins, this truth weighing on her Spirit heavily,
for it is also confirmed more of Maes failures. Her Lords blessings are
seemingly endless, for now she understands how the corruption was already
present, like the shadow cast as the Sun shines.

As the darkness is always present, spreading, then Mae shall be that Light,
the imperfect and true lantern in the dark, a guide within the dark and cold,
to those who seek to strike a balance, to stand at the edge of the Abyss, and
not be drawn all the way in. For what is Loss without personal sacrifice and
damnation for a cause, be it for the Blessed, the Refuge, or even the Light?

Chapter 34

Mae travels, wanders, ever lost in the dark fog of life, trying be a beacon
for those willing to venture beyond what they find to be acceptable and
comfortable. This leads her to be isolated even from allies and what some
would consider friends. In isolation, sorrow rises, which allows her to
reflect on all she has lost in her long life, her blessings.

Blessings lead to enlightenment, which she seeks to impart any who would
listen. Alas, many if not all have proven unworthy be they Warden or Lost
Soul, simply fading away, but this is also a lesson in Loss, which she
cherishes and feeds her Spirit.

As she invokes His blessings, the darkened lantern grows cold, the halo of
fading light glows brighter, as her faith continues to strengthen.

Chapter 35

Quanhest, where did it disappear to, was it too much for the Sunwarden and
Nightreaver to be so, effective in thinning the heard of the enemies of
Thar-Eris?

Of all who have come and gone, Mae thinks of the crab-lady the most. They
hunted together often, too often in the eyes of many, for how could someone
pure of heart, almost admire the darkness within the gnome-hating human?

It was simple, the Nightreaver was all that Maeneekoni chose not to be.
Maes murderous tendencies have subsided for a time, for when she was a but
just a Warden, the Tree was just a shadow of itself, Mae felt she needed to
hunt as well as tend to the saplings.

Now she has seen a few Nightreavers, all falling woefully short of what is
expected of the rage of Thar-Eris. Mae feels the tug of the bloodlust in
which she was baptized, but the Loss of the her murderous tendencies keeps it
at bay, for there is no need to return to the past, for now. But the brighter
the Sun shines, the longer shadows cast.

Chapter 36

Mae, in her final act of pain, hurt herself. She accepted her Lords final
gift, a poison for her very soul, but strengthening her Spirit. With this
gift a path opened, the path of Dreams, and for Mae, Thar-Eris. Maes dream
of Thar-Eris, and perhaps an olden and ancient time, has become a possible
reality. Thar-Eris is a nightmare for many, Mae understands this, but in
primal times, the Light was ever present, providing respite from the
savageness of the Wilds.

Let the true Light shine in the dream and nightmare, for those who can reach
the lantern in the darkness, let them be worthy.

Chapter 37

Mae, with those willing, completed the ritual. The signs continue to be seen,
she cares not for the knowledge of what they mean, all she cares is that her
Lord, has been strengthened. She hopes dreams shall be reality and in turn
nightmares. This is an intensifying of life, a return to a more savage time,
in her mind.

Two of the ritual faded away, via violence and old-age. How many of whom she
considered close, no entertaining enough to pique her interest have passed,
little matter they at least were worth the thought of mourning. But they will
not find respite in oblivion, for her Lord, is gatekeeper to that place.


For the Outlanders, she feels blessed, for Loss is something that is
inherently present within the Tree. Some gain strength from it and others
fail. Failure is not to be shunned in service to Thar-Eris, she expects those
who pledge to be malleable clay, that shall mold itself, free to decided how
to fight for Thar-Eris within the tenets as guide posts on their path.

With all this, she is now his High Priestess, doing what must be done, driven
by pure impulse and freedom. This is her path, for Her Lord and Thar-Eris,
unconventional with an uncertain end for the chosen of Rahsael, as it should
be.

Chapter 1

Born in Darsylon, her parents were both members of the rangers guild and
served the city in the swamps and vale south of the city. They met their ends
defending the wilder elves during a raid of dark elves from the Underdark. At
the burial ceremony for her slain parents, she was not sad, but angry, that
their sacrifice was seen as inevitable by powers within Darsylon. The nobles
know that for centuries the dark denizens Underdark have plied their
murderous craft against the surface and have done nothing. Even though still
in the academy,she asked to the guild to send raiders and exact vengeance
for her parents. The request was denied, as the raid was not inline to
Darsylon strategic goals for the region. Anger swelled up inside her, for too
long, retribution of centuries of bloodshed has been delayed due to politics
and power struggles within the elvish court, she thought as she stormed out
of the rangers guild.

Chapter 2

She moved to the vale, tears of anger running down her face, glancing the
west, she knew the tunnels to the Underdark lay in that direction. She could
go, get vengeance on her own, but without skills she would likely get killed
by a giant spider or other native species of the region. The wildlife was not
her target, it was not if a cavefisher departed the caves to raid the
outskirts of the elven kingdom. No, It was the duergar, the dark elves, and
other foul and evil things that lurk in the deep,, they were the real target,
and she was unprepared to take the fight to them. As anger led way to more
rational thought, she looked to the mountains to the south, the mighty
Redhorn.

Chapter 3

Mountains are home to many a thing, but not many high elves. She had heard of
the ambivalent wood elves, that resided in the Jade Mountains, strong and
independent folk, unhindered by politics of nobility, they lived free. She
would emulate them, learn of the wind, mountain, and snow. She would work to
learn her craft, to specialize in exploration, she would not be caught
unaware in any terrain, as she knew her battles would likely be fought ion
unfamiliar terrain.

She wants to gain strength from her loss, do what her parents could not do,
the despair they must have felt as they fought and died the unholy horrors of
the deep must not be forgotten, it needs be embraced. The despair they felt,
must be used to strengthen her spirit, to strike back against the dark that
swallowed her parents whole.

Chapter 4

Mae, the name she now goes by, as her full elfish name often tongue ties none
elves, managed to fine the Shrine of Rahsael. The discovery was not without
cost, prior to reaching the shrine, she stumbled into the a strange fog and
found herself in a strange island. It took but a few steps for her to be
overtaken by the wildlife and strangely enough not by the dark souled
explorers. This was a lesson learned, she will not stumble beyond that dock
again without being prepared, in loss something is gained. The loss
strengthened her spirit, it also allowed her to visit Darsylon once more,
noting that nothing had changed. She is emboldened even more that her path
will keep her away from the home of the elven ancestors.

Chapter 5

Mae departed the shrine, a mix of emotions ran through her mind, sadness,
anger, pain, and excitement. Rahsael had sent or appeared to her as a doll,
used up but not discarded. A doll not unlike that one Mae had played with as
a child. The mere sight of the doll almost caused her to break down in tears,
how could the deity do this, but then she realized, how could he not, it
must have been done to help realize her loss need not be forgotten, it needed
to be cherished, nurtured, and maintained. But who are mortals to dare to
even think they understand the thoughts of a god, her pain may have just been
entertaining. However, Mae decided this would be the gateway to the tenets of
the faith but the path was still a ways away for now. The doll provided two
tasks, have an ally and enemy experience loss. The task excited Mae, for it
would allow her to experience loss through someone elses emotional and
physical reactions. She would need to first find worthwhile allies and
enemies, a connection, emotional and perhaps even physical would be ideal.
Perhaps it was time she chose a cabal, for what better way to accomplish the
aforementioned. Deciding that she needs to truly connect with both ally and
enemy, for this to be worthwhile. Lastly, the encounter allowed for some
reflection, what Mae defined as loss, how it affected her, and her longing
for more.

Chapter 6

Despair is not all that bad right? It drives Mae, it feeds her spirit, she
longs for it when she is not affected with it, and she fears she will forget.
She is not suicidal by any means, for she wishes to impart loss to enemies
that call and deserve it, it is an emotional weapon. For allies, she wishes
them to gain strength from and even use it to achieve their hearts desire.
Others may see her as an emotional masochist, a broken vessel but in her own
eyes, she is finally starting to see clearly.

Chapter 7

Lord of Loss and Doll of my dreams and nightmares,

Through fate, I managed to ambush an assassin named Eybaen, labelled
Anathema, while I was not able to fell him physically, something intriguing
came of the encounter. He reached out after the skirmish, thinking me a
Warder. He confided that he now seeks the Refuge, and that Lord Ergush had
tasked him to seek Outlanders for recommendations. I realized that my enemy
had experience loss, not from my attempt to defeat him in battle, but of the
emotional and spiritual for he was now Anathema. I guided the conversation
away from the Refuge, to delve into his loss, he willingly discussed one
named Maria, and how the Empire had taken her away from him. I compounded the
loss of both his beloved and the Empire, while I failed to make him feel loss
physically, in words he felt it emotionally.

The loss was not just on his side, I was able to feel the emotional pain of
an enemy. Shadow walkers Ive dealt with are unknown, even those that have
defeated me in battle, imparted no words, I was but a notch in their belt.
Eybaen helped me understand how one of the dark processes loss, I could sense
his rage. Through the end, he explained I was no longer an enemy, but a
kindred spirit, in the path of the Lost. While we are not friends, our
conflict has elevated beyond the physical altercation, I hope he finds his
path into the Refuge, it excites me on what chaos someone as damaged as me,
will cause within the ranks of the Reavers. A soul that was once a slave and
enslaver, there will be many within the Tree that will never call him ally,
and will seek his demise regardless. Oh what loss will be felt within all of
the Tree, but with loss comes rebirth, a chance for the cycle to continue.

For an ally, I plan to impart the feeling of loss to Ailliyana, she entrusted
me with a seed that shall not be blessed. The elf intends to stop the loss of
the wood, not allowing the natural cycle to occur, let the fires burn, they
will die down, and the wood will grow anew. Her loss will take some time, as
I have until gaining the thirty first rank in my guild. On the subject of
allies, I plan to pledge to the Tree, if I am accepted as a Warder, I shall
be able to be as the child, show the enslaved freedom, allow me to wander,
but also enable the cycle and keep evil in its place, and be shown the
strength of loss.

Chapter 8

After taking steps toward completing the tasks set forth by Rahsael, Mae
realized her next step was pledging to the Refuge. In her early years she
experienced the short comings of civilization in the government of Darsylon.
Her encounter with the Doll, the task, and the experience with Eybaen the
Anathema, sent her into continued self-discovery to find her place in Thera.
She has no wish for the destruction of all things civilized, while it is
important that all experience loss, destruction in her eyes is a permanent
end, no chance for renewal. Loss is part of the cycle of life, without life
there is no cycle. Mae views the wilds as the epitome of how loss is weaved
into the fabric of existence, life does not stop growing when forests fires
strike, the pain is there, but eventually the seeds return, the forest grows
yet again the scars of the fire remain.

Chapter 9

To all those who socialize with her, Mae appears to be a happy go lucky,
willing to experience everything life has to offer, never to hold onto anger
for too long. However, the stresses she has lived through have begun to lead
to the path of madness, constant interaction with the Doll and the traumas of
her early life, have caused this. This madness is not an ill thing, it has
caused her spirit to strengthen for the trails ahead. Through this madness,
Mae has changed, no longer the depressed, stoic mourner, her mood has shifted
from a pessimist to an optimist with a twist. She may not have realized, but
her personal mourning shifted from an internal process has begun to
externalize it. This a sudden shift in her personality has also changed how
she processes all kinds of pain and her focus.

Pain now for Mae is not to be internalized, it has become a source of joy,
she relishes it, makes her feel alive. This pain needs to be felt by all, her
battles in Eil Shaeria, while helping her skills, gave her a new hate for all
things undead. Physical pain for Mae, is the precursor for emotional pain,
without a shock to her body, she believes true emotional pain cannot be felt
and ultimately enjoyed. The undead are the antithesis of her existence. She
has learned all skills and magic available to her chosen profession, she
wields fire and silver weapons, now she will focus training on how to better
slay that which is worse than dead where the body no longer feels, the
undead.

Chapter 10

Having granted a place amongst the denizens of the Tree, Mae finally joined
the fight on the side of Thar Eris. However, she fights for loss to claim its
prize, those who which to enrich themselves, enslave, and cheat the cycle
must be challenged, and spirits cleansed through blood and combat. This war
for the return of the wilds claims many on all sides, a perfect place for Mae
to reflect on her losses through pain, and help those who would fall on their
swords when they too end up on the losing side of the coin flip.

She bared witness and experienced how one succumbs to loss, the dwarf
Commander Nossos and Harbringer Admund. The dwarven son far gone, claimed by
demonic magics and the ranger who lost a father only to be shown it need to
be so. One gained strength, the other falling into despair. Mae was energized
by the event, she even did battle with Nossos and the abomination that had
become his son. Much was learned and she craves more.

Lastly, her powers granted are healing in nature, often seen as the
antithesis of loss. She does not see view them as such. They are weak all
things considered, she is no priest but a warrior that can extend the fight.
They are a sadistic taste of what salvation could be, but in the end they
just prolong pain, and allow one to experience pain a little longer. Even
when she sets the bones and tends to bleeding, it is not something that is
devoid of pain, the recipient, often herself, suffers the joy of pain.

Chapter 11

Mae has surprised many a Reaver, in that she has helped them when
appropriate, in order for Thar Eris to thrive. She views them as confused
children, quick to anger, and more often than not attempting to rationalize
poor choices. But they are free, to hunt, slay, and be slain, they are the
wild fire, Her rage. Beautiful to behold, one does not know which direction
it may burn, if one gets too close, one becomes engulfed, also turning to
ash. The emissaries of rageful loss, the yearn to hunt, will eventually
consume them, but with counsel, the burn will be slower, the pain longer
lasting, a sight to behold! Let them come to the Mourner, a Reaver that
accepts the power of loss, will be something to behold!

Chapter 12

Mae and Eybaen continue to progress on their paths of enlightenment. Eybaen
was turned from the dark, and now sits in what can be described as purgatory,
seeking to turn fully to the light, his soul incomplete. His hands are
stained with the blood of the innocent, the cost will be heavy, to burn away
the sins of his past. Mae has begun to feel something for Eybaen, the loss
envelopes the assassin, she cannot help but be attracted to the assassins
fate, what is surely to be a tragic end. She will keep this close hold for
now, but the Doll knows all.

Subconsciously, her craving for emotional as well as physical loss is
increasing. She has yet to feel as alive as when her parents were taken from
her, she is trying to find a way to recreate such deep and lasting pain to
sate her desire. Blessed are the lost.
