Sel Drevas the Infatuated Antagonist, Master Artist of the Collegio

Chapter 7

Everything started when Sel was asked by Aurew to come save an orphan that
had wandered into the Fortress. He worked with Malgren and Graitel to try and
save the child's life. What he found out was that a Fortress member had
killed an innocent guard in their pursuit of evil. Which lead to both the
child's mother and the child to take their life. Sel tried to explain through
art that those of the Empire had acted more noble than the Fortress in this
case. That they needed to be better.


Aurew told him he was a mad man that he was only trying to corrupt their
t. This hurt Sel deeply as he was already forcing himself to avoid indulging
in his addiction to capturing shapeshifters in hopes of seeking out
redemption. How could she expect so little of him?


He was shaky in his wonder if he should aid the Fortress or not.
Considering how they have demonized him for so long. It took Cexonza being
skinned alive for Sel's mind to snap. All he saw was his beautiful wife
always being stronger and better than them. Wondering why the Fortress was
such a terrible place. At this point he made a plan to find a way to cause
them as much trouble as possible. He never thought things would work out as
they did.


The worst of it all was that he realized Sayra was intent on taking High
Herald from him. After reading one of her poems he wrote his own. Betrayed
talking of how hurt he was she was trying to upstage him but he realized
slowly that his path to disrupt the Fortress would eventually get him booted
from the Heralds. So he was now intent on leaving the Heralds once everything
was said and done.


Little did he know that Sayra had planned to get rid of him so that she
would be the sole star of the Inn. Misunderstanding that Sel never cared
about such things. Spending years adding more foolish titles making fun of
himself. Prepping her to take over as High Herald so he could leave the
Heralds with it being in good hands. At this point he realized he might have
a chance to destroy the Fortress if he set things up. Which he explained in
his written work on it.


(I realize I should of put this in as a role prior but I had made most of
this clear through Sel's artworks. It appeared as if it was figured out as
they were trying to get rid of Sel)


Sel moving forward seeks out the Outlanders to help fight against slavers and
live happily with his wife and various beasts. Away from the world after his
Magnum Opus finally is completed.

Chapter 6

Currently Sel feels quite bad for Melianna and intends to try to free her but
he wants it to be Gaspare's willing plan. He plans to use his past research
on the azure fields to aid in this.


Sel is extremely proud of everything Cexonza has done. He feels that she
outshines him constantly which only makes him want to dig deeper into his own
creativeness to make greater art. She seems intent of living with Thar-eris
for the rest of her life and afterlife. Sel intends to convince her to find
a way to be with him instead forever.


Frustration with inadequate research material for his minotaur book.
Frustration with the wanton murder that the Fortress seems to endorse
specially for lack of empathy toward the balanced. Has become a critic of the
Fortress heavily in hopes of having them see their failings.


Feels as if he is blindly walking down the path of redemption with zero
guidance. He intends to do things he believes is right regardless of the path
he is on. He feels if he tries to force the path it would be him betraying
who he normally is. So he continues to aid the orphans in Balator while
feeding the lost children within Seantryn's swamp. That is mostly due to him
growing up with them believing he owes them that much.


He is rather enjoying being a bartender as his life has felt a bit empty
since he had to stop (not completely) bringing animals to the bar with the
constant danger on his life.


He has been trying to make peace with as many people as possible. An absurd
amount of people seek his life considering how much he avoids politics. Most
of those people who he has never been around. Just aimlessly trying to murder
him has start making him a bit bitter. Considering the constant talks of him
being too aggressive when most of the time he is defending himself.


Sel still seeks to be the High Herald but he worries he might end up
neglecting Cex the more he focuses on this. He has spoken to her and she
seems to be fine with it. He just dislikes splitting his focus. No matter how
anyone feels Sel values Cex more than he values being a Herald. Though most
of the time they do not conflict.

Chapter 5

Sel is a bit conflicted on the events that happened. As much as he loves
Cexonza he wasn't sure he wanted to stop her from sacrificing herself. The
moment he learned that it would help save the world he realized that it would
make for a better painting if she did. Yes she'd be missing her fur in places
but he could use his talents to fill in the damaged parts with colors that
would accent her beauty. Plus the story behind how she came to be injured
would increase the depth that the painting had.


His suffering to see and hear her in pain would also push him forward to
make this painting the greatest piece of art he could make. He'd put his
heart and soul into making it great so that she didn't suffer in vain.


He decided against pushing her toward doing it as it would be a bit
suspicious. If she was going to choose to do this he saw no reason to try and
stop her. Especially if it'd help him create greater art but a nagging
notion....forced him to at least push her toward other options. He had to
make sure she was doing this because she wanted to. It would mean nothing if
she was pushed into it.


He sought out advice on the moral ambiguity of the issue and was told to
stop her from doing such a good deed would be consider evil. So he feels less
guilty about not trying as hard to stop her. He was willing to take her place
if things had been different but he realizes those are just words. So he will
just refuse to tell anyone that bit.

Chapter 4

*After years of struggling he has come to the point where Cexonza has become
the greatest love within his life. Over shadowing his old desires or
compulsive need capture beasts. He still enjoys finding new beasts and loves
his performers but he has captured the greatest of all in his own eyes. So he
has decided to devote himself fully even after they are married.


*He went through a short phase where he was driving himself crazy trying to
find information on the Azure fields. Trying desperately to make sure that he
would never be separated from Cex...he understands one of them will
eventually die first but he wants something to hope for. Due to all the
forces at work he believes he may die sooner than later...
*He went to
speak to Korsgaard about redemption which he knew would make Gaspare mad.
Which of course it did while he is worried and dislikes upsetting his lord he
is resolute in his path. It is the only way in his eyes.


*He is worried about the misfortune that is being seen within Thera. Though
he has no real clue how to handle it. He is asking friends to aid him.


*Everything has delayed his writing of his second work as intends to focus on
his Muse. Thera as a whole and dealing with some minor issues.

Chapter 3

*Many things have changed since he first started out. Firstly he has found
his Muse. (Cexonza) She keeps influencing him to be kinder which is causing
him to be more critical of himself. His love for animals has grown so deep
that he cares very little for others except for those who are shifters.
Something he is being forced to be aware of due to Cex. More of he thinks the
lives of others do not matter in comparison which he sees as a problem.


*Secondly he is a herald and spends quite a bit of time entertaining guests.
Meetings different people with many stories but he finds them boring. Though
he is a good host and loves to talk about his performers. It is the only
interesting part of what happens there.


*He has finally started writing his first work after gathering all the
interviews from the various shifters. Ever the artist he seeks out specific
additions to his writing tools to enhance the experience for his readers. He
wants for his first work some catnip and a maran weapon. For his second he
wants the heart of a dark shifter set ablaze. The ashes he will mix with rust
from iron chains then add it to his ink. For the final one he seeks to write
with an enchanted quill that burns the words into the paper gently so not to
catch the entire page on fire but to give his writing a smoky ashy flair.


*He has befriended Aurew. Malgrin. Woffurd. and has been attempting to court
Cexonza quite successfully. Things have been going quite well for him. Except
for the issues with Emnon hunting Cex.


*He is supposed to be hunt down a statue for the collector. A Second one from
the dark god Emnon. He isn't entirely interested in it as it has nothing to
do with beast hunting. The only reason he feigns interest is that he might be
able to protect Cex by aiding this collector.

Chapter 2

Upon finding out about the udgaardian plains. Filled with various
creatures, shifters, and mythic beasts. He vowed to find a way to make it his
home. Whatever the cost...


He was compelled to share the wondrous nature of his prized beasts with the
world. Hearing of the Heralds he sought to become their first and only
Ringmaster. So that he could share with them the various beasts of Thera.
They will love them....they have to.....


The longer he goes without capturing or punishing a shapeshifter the more
desperate and ruthless he becomes driving him to an almost zealous state.


He believes there are more than one way to capture a beast. Words that
captivate, physical means, and coerce through taking away something that
means a lot to them. No matter what he will get what he wants.

Chapter 1

Sel Drevas was born within the Seantryn swamps where he lived a life of
seclusion. Both his parents were killed during by a group of adventurers
leaving him alone as a toddler. He wandered off into the swamps. He lived
there for almost three years surviving off the bountiful swampland. He was
eventually found by a group of Hamsah slavers hoping to find a beast tamer
for the Sultan. They never expected to find a child living within the swamps.


They took him to Hamsah to train him to become a master of taming and
capturing beasts. Even as a small child he fell deeply in love with the
beasts. Finding each new creature more fascinating than the last. Naturally
his love caused him to be too gentle with them. This caused them to be
disobedient which would cause him to suffer relentless torture.


In his mind a simple phrase kept repeating anytime he was forced to punish
his pets. Pain retain...through suffering comes obedience. It is the only
thing that gets him through it. Eventually he came across a beast that just
refused to be tamed. He slaughtered it and wore it's fur. Inside he was
filled with both pain and pleasure. Losing one of his prized pets but
surrounding himself with it's essence thrilled him. He made sure to eat it's
heart and drink a bit of the blood. To absorb some of it's life energy
hopefully to give him strength in taming the next.


This drove him deeper within his obsession seeking to find new and more
exotic creatures. Bringing him to the furthest corners of Thera. Bringing
dragons, swamp cows, crocodiles, Ettercaps, and various shifters if he could
manage. Each time he would bring a shifter he would be tortured for wasting
the Sultan's gold. This habit he simply could not break as they fascinated
him even more. The perfect combination of everlasting beauty. Both beast and
man.....everything he ever wanted but could never have. He lacks the ability
for advanced magic.


Eventually the Sultan couldn't tolerate it anymore and sent an assassin to
kill the young Sel. He felt uneasy as the assassin struck barely to his left.
Causing Sel to flee out to the wilderness. Knowing he couldn't return he left
to live in Galadon but found living among the various races didn't suit him.
The only boon was living so close to shifters though the laws "prevented" him
from grabbing them.
