Chapter 10

Much of my time within Fortress was spent as Wanted by the
Blood Tribunal. This was a result of my hunt taking me into
a city. Despite numerous encounters with guards, even being thrown in jail in Hamsah
once, I managed to survive all of that and only died in an unrelated incident.
Unfortunately, most of the guards walk in the light and I couldn't avoid
harming them a bit when they attacked me, which still saddens my heart.
I realize as I grow in power that my harming potential also grows and thus
I would prefer not to become wanted again lest I kill a well-meaning guard accidentally.
I've tried to explain to them that I don't hunt innocents in the streets of Thera,
but they wouldn't listen. So about the only way I don't fight them again is to try to hunt
outside of the cities or else try to be more vigilant when the Tribunal keeps its watch.

Chapter 9

Being a squire of the fortress for some time now, I can
draw some conclusions and write a small outlook on things within these walls.
For some reason it seems like there's not much direction or leadership,
even from Marans. I have staged and directed retrievals from the walls of Empire,
for example, because there was no one else to take that role.
Mopping the blood off the floor after a particular bloody fight in the Fort,
I was a little dismayed that some of our members don't work together
well enough, just running in one after another and then either dying or fleeing.
It seems to me that there could or should be seminars on battle tactics
when things are more or less quiet and planning when they are not.
I reckon we're lacking in that department, but perhaps am not old enough
yet and maybe there's something that marans don't share with me.
But in their place, I would always try to gather squires for a little chat.
Whether it's tactics to beat an anti-paladin for their rank and
profession, or what to do during a raid or retrieval, facing certain opposition.
I think regular things like that will immensely help the Fortress as a whole.
Our fight is hard enough as it is without needless deaths.

Chapter 8

Just today, after a fast bout with a duergar that fell, I found myself
A Maran. While I will try to be the best one there is, am a bit
Surprised that I was chosen so soon. Nothing exceptional was
performed by me, really, but I will try my best to set an example and lead by it
as best I can, while following the Creed.
I may have become too condescending while talking to a healer
And advising not to participate in an active fight, I shall try to
Overcome this problem in the future when giving advice on battle tactics.

Chapter 7

In my days, before I joined the Fort, and even after, I noticed a lack of guidance
And general advice from Marans, be it because they were extremely busy with the war,
Or did not care to talk in detail to the likes of me, but I often felt
That I need to learn quite a few things on my own. Also, no one seeked me out
To ask what is my take on the creed and the war.
Thus, becoming a Maran, I reckon that I should fill that hole and, duties permitting,
Would seek to guide and be present for those who aspire to be among us.

Chapter 6

While there are plenty heroes in the Fortress, we somewhat lack staged warriors in the middle ranks.
And while our leaders strive to fill the walls with new worthy squires and acolytes,
I feel there is a certain hole at the moment, which I must fill.
I would love to learn the intricacies of Martial trance or become a
famous hero as much as anybody, but the war as I see it must be fought here,
while just learning the depth of owaza, and this where I must fight it for now.

Chapter 5

While I was growing up, I was inspired by the tales of an assassin of the Light,
Of the tales of the Knight cabal, and later, of the Maran legacy.
I always wanted to be as strong as him, and as courageous.
Now that I have achieved the Maran position, I take the blessing
From the Captain of the Maran, in the shrine of the phoenix,
Former home of Shokai, who has left the realm for now.
Unfortunate that was, since that was a great inspiration that
Has always kept me going even through the toughest of times and the
Toughest of odds. And I know that somewhere, someplace, it's his
Continued presense that guides my hand by which I strike the evil of this land.

And I believe his spirit is still with us, as witnessed by the blessing of Sune Rai.
It is the Phoenix, the Skyborn, that still guides me and gives me Strength.
As long as I'm alive, he will not die, and his presense will be still felt.

Chapter 4

Unfortunately, there are no mortal leaders of Marans currently
And, consequently, lack of new members or at least a shortage of them.
Therefore a push needs to be made to pursuade our immortals to elect
At least one leader so that we can be represented at all ranks.

As there is a definite dirge of heroes in the Fortress to attack and defend,
as well as some new members at the lower ranks and the Captain now,
I feel that I need to move up in ranks in order to better serve our needs

I have been able to impress my guildmaster enough so he taught me the art of the Miyama Ryu.
I see myself fulfilling the legacy of Shokai, guiding the youonger ones,
leading the charge on the scepter and the codex, and generally be an inspiration.
It is a challenging life at times, but I reckon Shokai would live the same.

Chapter 1

I have decided to spread the word. Not many now know even what the word Maran might mean.
All marans and squires definitely should get an earful of the most important historic piece,
so am spreading the main point of the Phoenix across.
