#1143, "Bard Edgery!"
|
52 or so new edges as of this reboot. Most are for bards; a few are general edges characters who fight bards may be interested in.
Standard disclaimers and all that apply. Read older Edge posts for more information!

Doing some of this required a small bit of the bard code/infrastructure to be gutted and rewritten. If you're a bard and find a bug in a song that previously worked great, you might not be imagining things. Let us know.
One upside of the above is that caballed bards can now decide whether or not they'd like to sing offensive songs to their cabalmates via trustcabal. Hopefully we've seen the last of the Battle bards who had to be uninducted to compete in the Rites.

Does this mean turning off trustcabal will let you sing offensive songs to cabalmates, or is there some other syntax? Also, will this have an effect on area spells from mages?

Yep. Trustall has to be off too, actually. This was a little buggy but we got it straightened out yesterday.
Note that defensive/beneficial songs still always affect cabalmates no matter what.

Currently, no. Songs have a little bit of a different infrastructure. It made sense to rework it a bit in order to code, for example, the Troubador edge, and that's produced dividends like this little bit of joy. Maybe when we get to invoker or anti-paladin edges it will make sense to do the same for area spells.
