#25013, "Gust of wind spell ends loop if someone dies"
Edited on Tue 06-Jun-23 04:27 PM

The Gust of Wind (Animist ranger) spell was recently bug fixed, because it was hitting only one target and not even the person currently targeted by the caster. Now it loops through all potential targets and does kind of an area effect. However, that loop seems to be broken if one of the targets dies. This is a potentially exploitable bug because then a character could buy a weak pet to shield themselves from the first gust of wind.

Expected: When gust of wind is cast, it will hit the target of the casting as well as all "associated" targets (groupmates, cabalmates, charmies, etc). It was described as "area-effect-like" in the previous big fix.

Actual: If someone dies during the spell's effect loop, the loop ends, thus shielding targets further down in the order of operations from getting hit.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Character A has a weak or near-death charmie
2) Animist ranger character B hits character A with gust of wind. Gust of wind will strike the charmie first, killing it
3) Character A is not hit by the spell

*snip*

Mobs get released on death, so since it was null, its pointer to the next person wasn't there to work with.

I think I fixed it.
