#95, "December 18: Edge Points from Immortal-driven stuff"

This is likely the last post regarding Edge Points. It details the remaining ways to receive Edge Points as far as I know.

As I said in an earlier post - some of the methods to receive Edge Points may change and/or be removed. But this is how things sit right now.

You receive Edge Points for:
Receiving a tattoo
Becoming a cabal leader (being Granted)
Having a rated role entry
Having an acceptable last name
For each 1000 IMM XP awarded

In addition to the above, you gain edge points each time ANY IMM XP is added. So if you get immxp for 1000, you're getting bonus edgepoints.

In addition to THAT, you gain extra edge points if the imm giving you the XP hasn't given you xp before.

Some explanation on that last bit. We used to have some imms who (especially before edges went in) would do things like throw out 5000 immxp at a hero for a good RP session at a shrine or something like that. At that time, it really didn't do jack for that hero other than probably some skill improvements.

When edges were going in, we knew we wanted IMM XP to be a way that people got edges, but we didn't want it to be crazy like before. We sent out instructional notes and such to the immstaff, but we also added the above code to avoid "cheerleader-ed" chars getting too much edgepoint loving.

So, what does all of this mean in practical terms? An optimal edgepoint-receiving-char (in terms of immxp) would get 1000xp each time he/she gets immxp, and would always get that immxp from a different immortal.

You receive substantially lower amounts of edgepoints from immxp than any of the other methods (depending, of course, on the amount of immxp you get). On the flip-side, there is no real limit to how many you can get, so over the course of a long-lived (age-death-type) character who interacts with several imms, you might see more edgepoints from immxp than other (capped) sources.
