#425, "Athansoros is Born"

GLOBAL:
Deep in the mines, down the the most remote shaft, a dwarven surveyor stops in his tracks.

Scratching his beard, deep in thought he says, "Ain't ne'er seen neh rock as dis!"

Hours pass as the eager miners dig the hunk of granite-like rock from its once eternal resting place.

The stone secure back in Akan, the smithy guild goes to work, consulting with block and stone artisans.

Try as they might, the surface of the stone won't budge.

Grumbling, one smith steps forward and says, "Wha' 'bout Tahren- he ain't neh kin, but he's damned fine wit' th' hammer?"

The gathered smiths grumble in agreement, and soon they are off.

LOG:

Ysaloerye has arrived.
Kuchu has arrived.
Rektath has arrived.
Yuvralin has arrived.
Tirvak has arrived.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle peers up from the large rock.

Ysaloerye says with a whistling snort 'Wit be fargin happenin here?'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle taps his hammer against his cheek.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'These fellas from Akan just dropped off this stone..'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Ain't never seen nothing like it!'

Kuchu raises an eyebrow.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle motions to a large stone in the corner.

Ysaloerye peers at the block of granite.

Ysaloerye juts out her chin and scratches it thoughtfully. Her beard waggles back and forth.

Tirvak scratches his head with a confused look upon his face.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle moves up close on the stone.

Yuvralin peers over at the stone, a look of shock crossing his scarred face.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle takes his hammer carefully to the stone.

Merrwyn suddenly looks on the verge of tears, before turning to sadness.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'What the!'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'This ain't no normal stone, fellas..'

Kuchu says 'What of it?'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Ain't never seen no stone this hammer couldn't budge.'

Ysaloerye taps the stone with the Ancient Hammer of the Dwarven Captain...'chink'

Tirvak says 'Is it..'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'What do you all make of it?'

Kuchu sits down and thinks deeply.

Tirvak peers intently at Ysaloerye.

Rektath grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Merrwyn whispers 'I had thought Mithril the hardest substance you could forge Smith Tahren'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Aye, tis.... but.. this stone... I sense something within.. trying to get out.'

Ysaloerye says 'Bloody!'

Rektath says with a tone of jarring metal 'Mebbe jest needin ta be fired...'

Rektath grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle looks at Ysaloerye and winces at her remark.

Ysaloerye says 'Pox ridden whores! Thats a hard fargin piece o' stone!'

Merrwyn whispers 'is it an egg Smith Tahren?'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle shakes his head.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Ain't no egg, I've never seen.'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Wonder who we could be asking...'

Ysaloerye says 'Not even a fargin scratch.'

Ysaloerye juts out her chin and scratches it thoughtfully. Her beard waggles back and forth.

Rektath grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Feirmon says 'what of the Noldarian smiths of Mortorn?'

Kuchu carefully approaches the stone and touches it with his bare hand.

Kuchu pauses, a thoughtful look on his face.

Ysaloerye says 'By Nimbus' axe! We need to fargin ask someone who knows ancient lore.'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Ain't thinkun no mortal ain't seen this stone before.'

Kuchu says 'The fell is...strange.'

Rektath says with a tone of jarring metal 'Da Lord Kastellyn mebbe knowin. Knowin much bout ancient lores me tinkin.'

A blazing red light splits the air in front of you then winks out, revealing Kastellyn.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Yah, damn fine idea.'

Ysaloerye says bearing her broken teeth 'This fargin rock is old near as old as any stone ah ever saw.'

Tirvak says 'maybe a mage be hidden inside??'

Kuchu says 'Hmmrrk...who brought it here?'

Kastellyn nods.

Kastellyn says 'What rock is this?'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle steps back from the stone, and nods at the drunken lord.

Ysaloerye says 'Feh! Bunch o' fargin sappers found it.'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'We was hoping you could tell us!'

Kastellyn taps his cheek, obviously deep in thought.

Merrwyn whispers 'or wild magic'

Kastellyn examines the stone closely.

Merrwyn whispers 'what if its wild magic trapped within'

Kastellyn says 'Interesting.'

Ysaloerye shakes her head in Merrwyn's direction.

Ysaloerye says to Merrwyn 'Thur aint nothin magical about it.'
Kastellyn nods at Ysaloerye.

Kastellyn says 'No magic.'

Kastellyn says 'But power...'

Kastellyn says 'Great power lies within.'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Nah, it seems very void of it in fact..'

Kastellyn taps his cheek, obviously deep in thought.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Almost repellant of it.'

Rektath says with a tone of jarring metal 'Void eh?'

Ysaloerye says 'Aye thats fer sure ma fargin hammer didn't even scratch it.'

Kastellyn blows a few soft notes on the Ancient Horn of Legends.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Ye agree Lord?'

Rektath says with a tone of jarring metal 'Mebbe remnant from da Boltthrowah's time...'
Rektath grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Yuvralin lightly taps a patch covering his left eye.

Kastellyn nods at Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle.

Rektath says with a tone of jarring metal 'Seems ta be 'bout right ta me..'

Kastellyn says to Rektath 'Older than that.'

Rektath grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle taps his hammer against his cheek in thought.

Merrwyn whispers 'if it is an ancient rock, I would say even before that'

Kuchu touches the stone again.

Kastellyn says to Rektath 'This stone is much, much older than that.'

Rektath says with a tone of jarring metal 'Fargin oldah?'
Rektath grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Yuvralin says 'Where yeh said yeh founds it?'

Kastellyn says to Rektath 'It is of the deep earth.'

Ysaloerye runs her gnarled hand across the surface of the stone.
Ysaloerye says 'Hell's Teeth! Aye its fargin old.'

Merrwyn whispers 'this world was not but a ruin before the two first Lords did come.'

Rektath says with a tone of jarring metal 'Be strange. Nah 'avin much 'istory known bout 'fore time 'fore Boltthrowah's.'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Aye, maybe that old?'

Kastellyn leans closer to the rock.

Rektath sits down and thinks deeply.

Kastellyn blows a few more notes on the Ancient Horn of Legends.

Tirvak says 'there's nothing else where they found the stone?'

Merrwyn whispers 'magic was not yet known to mortals then, nor gods or people. I do not know what power could be posessed in such a time'

Yuvralin says 'Spent younger days undergrounds, yeh..'

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle shakes his head.

Ysaloerye squints with her good eye.

Rektath grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Kastellyn smiles happily.

Tahren the Noldarian Smith of Battle says 'Them fellas didn't say.'

Rektath says with a tone of jarring metal 'Sometin be 'appenin.'

Merrwyn stands behind the large girth of Lady Ysaloerye.

Kastellyn says 'Well, I'll be damned.'

Tirvak scratches his head with a confused look upon his face.

Ysaloerye holds up a hand for silence.

Kastellyn says 'You are all familiar with the tales of the Ancient Dwarves, aye?'

Ysaloerye says 'Hush yer lot quit clamourin.'

Merrwyn whispers 'Which Lord Kasellyn?'

Kastellyn says 'At the beginning of the world, when the Lord of Order created Thera, he saw a need for one to shape the mountains and the valleys.'

Kastellyn says 'He gave this task to his creation Nordiach, First Lord of the Earth, whom He created.'

Looking more attentive, Tirvak listens closely to Kastellyn.

Rektath grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Kastellyn says 'But Nordiach caused much destruction when he slept, creating vast mountains and deep valleys.'

Kastellyn says 'In the seas and the land.'

Kastellyn says 'It was more than the Lord of Order wished, and He feared Nordiach would destroy all of Thera before it was fully created.'

Kastellyn says 'So...'

Kastellyn says 'The Order Lord went to the deepest rock of the earth, and there he scooped out bedrock with his hand.'

Ysaloerye says murmurs almost to herself 'forged from tha stone o' tha earth.......'

Kastellyn says 'He molded and shaped this rock, infusing it with his power, and shaping it into the likeness of Nordiach.'

Kastellyn says 'Then he breathed life into these rocks.'

Ysaloerye gasps in astonishment.

Yuvralin boggles at the concept.

Kastellyn says 'And the race of dwarves was born.'

Ysaloerye says to Kastellyn 'Yer don't fargin think.'

Kastellyn says 'Born to watch over Nordiach as he slumbered.'

Ysaloerye leaves the question hanging.

Kastellyn says 'And to tend the rock of the mountain.'

Kastellyn chuckles at Ysaloerye's joke.

Kastellyn says 'There is a tale told by the elves of this.'

Ysaloerye peers at the block of stone.

Kastellyn says 'That the Order Lord made more molds of stone then were needed.'

Kastellyn says 'That some were placed back into the earth until such a time as they would awaken on their own.'

Kastellyn says 'There are tales that some of these rocks did not awaken when life was breathed into them, preferring to remain...well, rocks.'

Kastellyn says 'The life of a rock is fairly stable.'

Merrwyn whispers 'why would they want to be rocks?'

Kastellyn says 'This rock has life within it.'

Kastellyn shrugs indifferently.

Merrwyn blushes.

Kastellyn says 'Who can tell what goes on in the mind of a rock?'

Kastellyn says 'But what I do know...'

Yuvralin says 'Too true, yeh.'

Tirvak says 'and in what will these rocks be of help to us??'

Kastellyn says 'Is that this rock bears the touch of the Order Lord.'

Rektath grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Ysaloerye whistles appreciatively.

Kuchu gasps in astonishment.

Kastellyn says 'A thing I have never witnessed before.'

Rektath says with a tone of jarring metal 'Mind of rock? Be talkin crazy...'

Kuchu says 'Impressive!'

Kastellyn hums a few notes.

Merrwyn whispers 'I would dare not think of this rock as a thing to help us, but to protect and keep safe'

Rektath grunts half-heartedly at his own joke as he stares at the rock with a look of awe.

Kastellyn chuckles at Rektath's joke.

Kastellyn says 'The mountains can think, Rektath.'

Ysaloerye leans close to the rock.

Kastellyn says 'They just think slowly, and their thoughts are huge.'

Kastellyn says 'These first dwarves were Gods.'

Feirmon says 'mayhap the spirit of the stone was intended for something more then to be a dwarf'

Kastellyn says 'And their offspring were greatly powerful as well.'

Kastellyn nods at Feirmon.

Kastellyn says 'But..'

Kastellyn says 'Too much ale diluted their power over the ages.'

Ysaloerye looks around and whistles innocently.

Throwing back his head, Tirvak cackles with insane glee!

Kastellyn says 'And in time they became the dwarves we have come to know and love.'

Feirmon smiles happily.

Feirmon says 'no other dwarf then an ale soaked dwarf'

Ysaloerye says 'And whats not tae love? Kobold piss is beer iffin A be knowin!'

Kastellyn taps his cheek, obviously deep in thought.

Merrwyn winces at Feirmon's remark.

The rock shivers slightly.

Kastellyn says 'So.'

Tirvak says 'Oh...it moved!!'

Tirvak says 'Did you all see??'

Yuvralin says 'Yeh..not ever knew dwarf dat not smellin like beer an urine.. Makin sense nows.'

Ysaloerye wheels around to peer at the rock.

Feirmon laughs at Yuvralin's humorous antics.

Kastellyn says 'What remains to be seen...'

Kastellyn says 'Is if I can awaken it fully.'

Kuchu shivers uncomfortably.

Kastellyn says 'For I sense its time is now, and it is here for a purpose.'

Merrwyn whispers 'Lord Kastellyn.. just what.. would you be awakening'

Kuchu says 'What can happen then..?'

Kastellyn shrugs in response to Merrwyn's question.

Ysaloerye says gruffly 'By Nimbus' axe! Now that would be a sight tae behold.'

Kastellyn chuckles politely.

Kastellyn says 'And power.'

Throwing back his head, Tirvak cackles with insane glee!

Yuvralin says 'Yeh says it can awaken on its own, yeh?'

Ysaloerye says to Merrwyn 'Clean yer lugs wur yer not listenin?'

Yuvralin says 'It juss chose not ta.'

Kuchu whispers 'The Lord of Order's touch....krrrrr...'

Rektath says with a tone of jarring metal 'Ya sensin some fargin pukin stench me guessin.'
Rektath grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Kastellyn blows a few notes on the Ancient Horn of Legends.

Yuvralin says 'So really yeh gonna be tryin ta..well..'convince' it ta wake up, yeh?'

The rock shivers and rumbles, giving off a keening sound in time with the music.

Feirmon says 'The melody of Lord Kastellyn's horn seems to stir the stone.'

Kastellyn blows a few more notes, creating a complex melody that is difficult to follow, but pleasing to the ear.

In a flurry of summer leaves and fragrant blossoms, Amaranthe swirls into existance.

Ysaloerye says 'It stirs to tha call o' war.'

Tirvak looks at Amaranthe.
Kuchu gasps in astonishment.

Amaranthe glares at Kastellyn as she leans upon her tall, crescent-bladed scythe.

Tirvak taps his cheek, obviously deep in thought.

Kastellyn nods at Amaranthe.

Ysaloerye says 'Arvam's swollen liver! Bugger meh!'

Amaranthe says 'Kastellyn, what are you doing?'

Feirmon says 'The Skjald's call to war.'

Merrwyn whispers 'hello Lady Amaranthe'

Something stirs in the rubble.

Kastellyn says to Amaranthe 'Lady.'

Kuchu bows before Amaranthe.

Kastellyn removes the Horn from his lips.

Amaranthe says 'Do you truly comprehend the power of that which you seek to awaken?'

Kastellyn chuckles politely.

Kastellyn says 'I do, Witch, I do.'

Kastellyn says 'But it is power whose time has come, methinks.'

Kastellyn says 'Can you not hear it call to you?'

The rock rumbles slightly, causing the earth to vibrate just a bit.

Amaranthe says 'Your words ascend into my domain, of dwarves whose season is long past. Powers ancient that brought untold destruction to the earth, that only now Thar-Eris begins to heal from.'

Tirvak grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Kastellyn says 'Ah, destruction.'

Rektath grunts something incomprehensible, not amused by his circumstances.

Ysaloerye moves before the stone placing herself between it and the Earth Goddess and plant her feet.

Rektath says with a tone of jarring metal 'Be speakin sometin generic me tinkin.'

Kastellyn says 'But they guard against greater destruction, do they not?'

Yuvralin says 'So goes da cycle of life, yeh?'

Ysaloerye adjusts the Ancient Hammer of the Dwarven Captain, trying to make it more comfortable.

Merrwyn stands beside Lady Ysaloerye.

Amaranthe purses her lips and shakes her head.

Amaranthe says 'I do not loathe the dwarven people as some would think, but what you do risks upsetting the balance.'

Kastellyn says 'Were they not to care for Nordiach, would he not stir in his slumber, and wreak more havoc on the world than even the dwarves do?'

Ysaloerye says to Amaranthe 'This be business o' tha village earth witch.'

Kastellyn purses his lips.

Kastellyn says 'Perhaps.'

Kastellyn says 'Perhaps not.'

Kastellyn says 'Everything we do can upset the balance.'

Amaranthe says to Ysaloerye 'What is the business of the earth and of the balance is in my domain.'

Kastellyn says 'I have to believe that this rock was found for a purpose.'

Kastellyn says 'A greater purpose than even we can understand. Created by the Order Lord, before Thar-Eris came to be.'

Kastellyn says 'And here it is before us.'

Kastellyn says 'We can bury it...but it will be found again.'

Amaranthe shakes her head in dismay.

Kastellyn says 'We cannot destroy it, for the power that created it created you and I.'

Yuvralin looks more enlightened.

Kastellyn shrugs indifferently.

Amaranthe says 'I am woven into the fabric of things that are created and destroyed, that are born and die. '

Amaranthe says 'Nothing is immune to destruction and death.'

Kastellyn says 'Besides, you've got to admit, it'll make a fine tale!'

Kastellyn rubs his hands together in greedy anticipation.

Amaranthe lets out a deep sigh.

Ysaloerye chuckles at Kastellyn's joke.

Kastellyn says 'And what is life if not tales? No, Witch, this is greater than you or I.'

Amaranthe says 'Kastellyn, believe it or not, I value the work of your Battleragers. While I hold not the same loathing for magic, you perform a vital function in keeping magic - a dangerous thing - in check.'

Kastellyn places the Ancient Horn of Legends to his lips and begins to play a soft tune, reminiscent of the mountains and vales of Thera.

Tirvak beams a smile at Kastellyn.

Amaranthe says 'But now.. you sound great these mystic horns, awaken beings from rocks. This meddling with powers beyond your comprehension, as you yourself admit..'

Amaranthe says 'It this truly the route you wish to travel?'

Kastellyn winks at Amaranthe.

Kastellyn nods at Amaranthe.

The rock begins to vibrate slowly at first, then gathering in force as Kastellyn continues to play.

Amaranthe says 'I cannot stop you, Kastellyn.. but remember my words.'

Kastellyn removes the Horn from his lips.

Kastellyn nods at Amaranthe.

Kastellyn says to Amaranthe 'Aye, I will remember.'

Kastellyn says 'But I sense something within that will aid the War on Magic a great deal.'

The rock continues to vibrate without the notes of the Horn.

Kastellyn says 'And so I give you...life.'

Ysaloerye moves away from the stone.

Kastellyn breathes upon the rock.

Merrwyn looks in wonder at the stone, mouth gaping.

A rumbling vibration is felt beneath your feet.

Amaranthe leans upon her crescent-blades scythe and stonily watches the ritual, shaking her head slightly in dismay.

Ysaloerye plants her feet.

Yuvralin stumbles and regains his footing, never taking his eyes from the stone.

The ground continues to vibrate, increasing in frequency.

Kuchu carefully watches everyone's actions, and the rock's.

The stone shakes faster and faster and faster, causing the very air to hum.

Ysaloerye grips her weapon tightly with excitement.

With a blinding flash, the stone bursts into life!

Feirmon vanishes!
Merrwyn vanishes!
Tirvak vanishes!
Yuvralin vanishes!
Rektath vanishes!
Kuchu vanishes!
Ysaloerye vanishes!

Kastellyn grins evilly.

Kastellyn grins evilly at Amaranthe.

GLOBAL:
Grumbling and rubbing his hind parts, a dwarf appears from the shattered stone, "Wha'. Wher'!"

Kastellyn winks slyly, before ascending back to into the chaos of battle.

Freed from the mysterious rock, the dwarf lord takes his place among the Pantheon, at the side of Kastellyn and Ysaloerye in the village of Battle.

(BATTLE) Athansoros the Free, Highland Thane of the Mountain Kin
(BATTLE) Ysaloerye Onagresingen the Bawdy Old Biddy of War
(BATTLE) Kastellyn the Lord of Legends

You hear a surly grunt, "Wha' th' farg ye lookin' at?!"
