A few people asked IC how I got this title. It was due to what may be the greatest coincidence in CF history.

"Why shouldn't the gods, through our guild, lead us instead?"

Stunned silence fills the Tar Valon paladin guild as the Master turns towards the youngest initiate, mouth agape in amazement. No mere street urchin looking for food, this one...

"Child, it is not in our place to rule! We, given power by the gods of light, serve the people of Thera and provide for the needy. We do not selfishly seek power or the riches which come with governing!"

"We wouldnt rule, sir, wed be carrying out their Holy Will, as revealed by the Code!"

"Think about it, all of the common failures politicians posses we are commanded, by them, to reject. Greed, lust, anger, spite, injustice, arrogance, all these things we avoid and if we fail in this or lie, our Immortal Lords strip us of our position, a sure sign we are unfit for anything!"

"Sir, the gods themselves tell us what to do, our guild is alone in its' utter dedication to the light and goodness, who better to guide the people of Thera?"

"By standing aside, remaining aloof, we allow evil to happen. If one of us, or even you, had lead Tar Valon, would you have permitted the White Tower to do what they did, to all of us?"




EMPOWERMENT NOTE:




I see a city.

A city built on faith, not deceptive magic, but trust, hope, and charity. Free of want and disease, and uncertainty, filled with the miracles you provide us. A city where children can play freely in the streets, as justice drives out those selfish thugs who would prey on the innocent.

As shining and pure as Tar Valon once was, but free of poverty, free of the machinations of the Aes Sedai but instead guided by wise priests.

Priests may see evil, where mages can not, we may feed the hungry and heal the sick where they destroy. Why should we not take the lead? Why are there no Theocracies in Thera when it is the best government we could have? And why should this dream be confined to just one city?

But for now, all I see now is ruin and decay, where the pain of hunger fills their souls with apathy. What good are the dreams of tomorrow if once may die of hunger today?

Help me feed people.

Help me restore their hope so they may restore their city, a city that may serve as an example to the world.

all sides. To the north rises up an odd structure - wispy columns of
mist support a domed roof of what appears to be a blanket of clouds.
Several other tendrils of mist rise up around the courtyard, looking
almost like ethereal trees. The courtyard you are in now is made of the
same solidified cloud material, and leads up to the arched entryway. On
all other sides the courtyard ends at nothing more than wispy clouds.

A large horse-like being stands proudly before you. It is nearly eight
feet tall at the withers, and instead of fur its body is covered in
shimmering golden scales. Two elegant, fiery wings extend off its back,
fanning the air lightly. Its mane, tail and fetlocks also appear to be
made of flames, though no heat can be felt from them. A spiraling
silver horn rises from the creatures forehead, right above two large
intelligent eyes. Much of its body is covered by a suit of delicate
gleaming mithril war barding, which makes a soft metallic swishing sound
as it moves. The being snorts loudly, nostrils flaring, as it turns its
gaze on you. It cocks its head to one side slightly and narrows its
eyes, leaving you feeling as if you have just been carefully weighed and
measured.
Velkurah, a male ki-rin, is in perfect health.
