#175, "A Strange Stirring in the Lands..."
Edited on Sun 31-Oct-04 08:51 PM

Your vision blurs for a moment before opening onto a scene on the street of a large city.

Rising from the street is a towering obelisk of obsidian that draws in the surrounding light.

Pacing back and forth nearby, a tall man enshrouded in dark robes quietly mutters to himself.

"I am plagued by fools. Fools who cannot appreciate the vision I have."

A look of unbridled fury crosses the man's face as he suddenly halts.

"Those damnable Maran, they have ruined my plans!"

Turning around to look up at the obelisk, Kardrath frowns thoughtfully.

"There is still a chance it might work, however, and I have nothing left to lose."

Slowly Kardrath begins to circle the obelisk, gesturing and chanting in a fevered pitch.

The obelisks begins to respond, drawing in more light to darken the sky above.

Your mind is assaulted by strange visions.

"It begins..."

Visions of your life, but not this life.

"...all my efforts, repaid."

A life that could have been.

"I shall reshape this reality into my own vision!"

They mix with your own memories, and they become impossible to distinguish from one another.

"Wha... no! Not now, not this close!"

A blinding light blossoms in your mind accompanied by a shockwave that ripples through your body.

The very world seems to groan with the force as it echoes through time, and for a moment everything ceases to exist.

Then the possibilities return and your mind clears once again, the vision of a city and a madman completely erased.

Erased as if they never were, like the memories of a life that could have been.
