#112, "Immortal Bio: Thror"

< Dwarf IMM> Thror the Immortal Warlord, Smith of the Noldarian Forge

People near you:
(PK) Velkurah The Gathering Room
(PK) Qaledus The Gathering Room
(PK) Zulghinlour Before an enormous ebony throne
(PK) Grurk The Immortal Lounge
(PK) Thror The Immortal Lounge
(PK) Soucivi The Gathering Room

You say 'Sneaky sneaky.'

Thror grins evilly.
Thror peers around himself intently.
Thror says 'not I '
Thror grins evilly.

You say 'So.'
You say 'What's your real name?'

Thror says 'Andrew Ramos.'
Thror says 'Andrew Israel Ramos'
Thror grins evilly.

You say 'Crap, you gave your last name!'
You say 'Aren't you worried some whacko will seek you out?'

Thror says 'Nah. I'm quite capable of handling myself and I give people the
benefit of the doubt when it comes to their state of mind.'
Thror winks suggestively.
Thror says 'Take for instance vindictive cloud giant reporters....'
Thror grins evilly in your direction.

You chuckle politely.
You say 'Alright. What state do you live in?'

Thror says 'North Carolina'

You say 'Good BBQ down there. mmm... vinegar.'

Thror says 'Oh ye...'
Thror says 'Moonshine. Good southern cooking...'
Thror says 'I almost -almost- miss Arizona'

You say 'Too hot in AZ for my tastes.'
You say 'So, how long have you been playing Carrion Fields?'

Thror nods.
Thror says 'Wow, CF...'
Thror says 'I played it for roughly 3 years.'
Thror says 'From my sophomore year in college, until I graduated...heavily.'
Thror says 'From that point: on and off for another 2.5 years.'

You nod.

Thror says 'One real life caught up with me - marriage, transition to the
workforce and a real job - it became much more difficult to be a part of the
game.'
Thror says 'Add to that a child now, and it's a real struggle deciding where I
want to go from here.'

You say 'What has been your most memorable Carrionfields experience?'

Thror taps his cheek, obviously deep in thought.
Thror says 'It's hard to place that. I've had so many of them with numerous
characters.'
Thror says 'Padishar was my first character. He was a Drow assassin who
struggled to be good or evil. '
Thror says 'his morales didn't lead him to be evil, so he searched for
redemption and found it through Shokai.'
Thror says 'he became a Knight of Thera and encountered many immortal driven
quests to thwart him from his path.'
Thror says 'That was when the game was extremely magical for me and held my
complete attention.'

You say 'Sounds like a blast!'

Thror says 'Aside from that: the return of Nazmorghoul was pretty fun. I saw
that as the leader of the BattleRagers with another character.'
Thror says 'Those two memories stand out from the rest.'

You say 'Neat.'
You say 'Why did you become an Immortal?'

Thror says 'To make a difference.'
Thror says 'I was extremely creative back then and I had heard so many
disgruntled complaints about immortal behavior.'
Thror says 'So for one: I wanted to put my mark on the game. Leave behind
something that people could remember...'
Thror says 'secondly: I wanted to prove those people wrong. Immortal behavior (
from what I saw) was never questionable.'

You say 'Who was or is, your favorite Mortal follower to date? Why?'

Thror says 'yikes!'
Thror says 'I have two actually. However the one that would get my vote would be Tahren.'
Thror says 'He actually went through some pretty difficult hardships to make his character memorable.'
Thror says 'Warborf was the other...'
Thror says 'However, he didn't have quite the hardships Tahren had. Tahren's
stemmed from being a Paladin who wanted to join the village of Battle.'
Thror says 'In doing so, he lost every commune possible to him.'

You say 'Ouch.'

Thror says 'His faith was something that he role-played exceptionally well. '
Thror says 'And his prayers/religious duty was never put into question as can easily happen in this game.'
Thror says 'Tahren lost everything and regardless of that he still played his character out until his final death.'
Thror says 'That's both commendable and in line with the aspects of my faith.'

You say 'What's the most common trait among successful Thror followers?'

Thror says 'The most common trait would have to be stubborn desire.'

You chuckle politely.

Thror says 'These followers are hell bent on becoming my follower. Regardless
of how much I make them do to earn my respect...'
Thror says 'That's typically what it comes down to. If they can earn my
respect through hardships and challenges I present to them, I will brand them
with my mark.'

You nod.

Thror says 'If they make excuses for their failures, they will have completely
missed the point of my religion.'
Thror says 'I try to make the religion similar to real life challenges...'
Thror says 'Sometimes you'll stumble and make a mistake. Acknowledge it and you'll overcome it.'
Thror says 'Dismiss it and you'll make it again.'

You say 'What one piece of advice would you offer new players?'

Thror says 'Give this game one hero.'
Thror says 'Don't quit early. Make it to hero status and become part of the cabal wars.'
Thror says 'I promise that if a player can make it that far, and learn to
interact with a cabal or subset of this game...'
Thror says 'They will enjoy it and learn not only how to be decent at player-
killing, but excellent at knowing their way around.'
Thror says 'Add to this the fact that they will see some solid role-playing and
it will help them to better mold their next character...and perhaps their
current one.'

You say 'You are reknowned for your Roleplay ability. What advice can you give
for players to improve their ability?'

Thror says 'Aha!'
Thror says 'I take pride in my role-playing.'
Thror says 'It's actually a matter of taking a concept: using it all the time regardless of the situation.'
Thror says 'In my instances: I'd take a character from a movie or a book that I really enjoyed.'
Thror says 'Substitute some different attributes into that character and run with it.'
Thror says 'If I saw a word I liked; I'd incorporate it.'
Thror says 'I'd then use it consistantly.'
Thror says 'If I made up a word like: Jhae Tue.'
Thror says 'I'd give it a meaning: then constantly apply that meaning.'

You nod.

Thror says 'It's consistancy that makes great role-playing.'
Thror says 'If I could offer anything it would be: Remain consistant.'
Thror tugs his beard.

You say 'So are you back, or what?'

Thror chuckles politely.
Thror says 'The desire is definately there.'
Thror says 'I went through some old stories I wrote...read through some forum boards...'
Thror says 'Read some good books, all of which reminded me of Carrion Fields.'
Thror says 'I'll start off doing a little bit, then perhaps committing more fully.'
Thror says 'I definately want to start with a character, just to get in touch with the playerbase again.'
Thror says 'My overall concern is how little I'm doing and the fact that I'm not pulling my weight.'
Thror says 'I'm hard on myself about things of that nature.'

You say 'What's the status for your religion now then?'

Thror says 'My religion is never closed. If someone can catch me and convince
me that they are worth my time and effort...'
Thror nods.
Thror says 'Then they've done what they need to convince an Immortal of their determination.'
Thror says 'Players do have to realize that I'm not very active. That's a risk
they take when attempting to follow me.'
Thror nods.

You say 'That's all the questions I have. Anything you'd like to add?'

Thror taps his cheek, obviously deep in thought.
Thror says 'The immortal staff is great. The most creative and brilliant
people I've known volunteer their services to this mud.'
Thror says 'I won't sit here and push for 'treat them kindly.' I will however
ask that people look at things from their perspective from time to time.'
Thror says 'I'd like to lastly point out that regardless of where I go from here:'
Thror says 'My time spent with this mud is one of the most enjoyable things I can remember.'
Thror says 'I have sincerely enjoyed every character I played and can remember
so much about each one. That's what makes this game rather special.'
Thror nods.
