Well, after playing a few rangers lately, like to ask some questions about them? Overall they are a good class, though a bit lacking in the higher ranks.
First: Why do they get protection from heat and cold? Why not give them protection from the elements like druids get. They suffer the climants as druids and are often in the forests, so why not let them resist all the elements instead of just 2?
Second: Poisons and herbs. Think rangers should have an ability to add a poison to their weapons. They deal with herbs all the time so why not be able to use the herbs to harm an enemy. Also, give them the ability to cure poison with herbs, but remove the cure disease part of them. Poison is more in dealing with herbs then I think plagues are.
Third: Ranger Staffs, great idea, but lets expand upon it a little. Let the ranger who creates the staff take it to the frozen areas or hot areas or swamps, and let the staff take on the properties of that area. IE: If I take my staff to the frozen wastes, I could use the terrain to give the wapon a freezing bite attack. If I took it to swamps, it could gain an acidic bite or poisonous bite. Would really add something to the weapon itself.
Fourth: Skills, can we get these skills more broken up within the ranks? As is, you basically get all your skills at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35. Give them a larger variety so they can have something to look for when going between levels.
Fifth: New skill idea called Aspects. Basically at the higher levels (40+) a ranger can choose to take on aspects of an animal. So they could choose like the bear, with its powerful blows, so they'll hit harder, but be slower and less mobile. One who chooses the wolf would dodge better, but their attacks wouldn't be as harmful. Or an eagle, where one is good at hit and fades. You could make up different aspects based on animals that would give the ranger a more fierce appearance and give them a variety of tactics, but at the higher levels.
Sixth: Some of the ambush strikes could be upgraded. Like cripple I'd like to see hit different areas (Legs, arms, chest), or different weapons use different ambushs that are more unique. Sorta like assassin assassinates. Maybe also add so different weapons work better with different ambush types (might be in but didn't really notice anything).
Overall a good class that could use a few slight improvements.
