Breakthroughs can happen that fast.

You can buy some extra time if your familiar is though enough to engage it.

If you regularly have angry creatures I recommend you get the dismissal edge and plough all your mana into one dismissal.

Also it can be helpful to have a strong circle somewhere you can get to easily (like your recall) if you don't mind advertising where you live.

Or just stuck up the deaths. Or let the angel get itself killed.
