Any thoughts of the draft below are welcome. I tried to post it there, but the posting malfunctioned a bit so I decided to throw it here for opinions. Should I post it there like this?
The draft:
As some of you may have noticed, Carrion Fields was down for a few days.
What happened was this: There was apparently some issue with CF's credit card and the hosting company decided to "reclaim" the server without warning, i.e. format it. As a result, the newest version of the game, CF website (the forums were on a different server and survived) and all the player characters were destroyed. The game has been restored from a development server and is already running and the staff is in the process of replacing the lost things.

Now to the important part:
The port 4444 mentioned in the announcement (apparently the old 9999 wasn't available any more) was changed to 4449 due to 4444 being the port a certain computer virus spreads through and thus being blocked by some ISP's.
There have been changes with the connection information:

With all the characters shockingly gone, CF has decided to hold double XP for now in order to let the people rank up new characters to replace the ones they lost in the disaster. An IC explanation of things has been presented and the Fifth Age dawns in the world of Thera, following a great disaster. Personally, I haven't been mudding for a long while and figured that this would be an interesting time to roll up a character and return to the game. In addition, I'd like to invite any new interested players to give CF a try and roll up a new character together with me and the rest of the playerbase.
There may be interesting role opportunities in recovering world rising from the ashes of a great disaster into a dawn of a new age. I believe that the CF Imms have now learned to make off server backups of the pfiles the hard way (instead of trusting the hosting company), so I don't think that this kind of great cataclysm RP opportunity will repeat itself in a form of such pfile purge. The situation is quite unique and i recommend everyone interested to take an advantage of this new RP opportunity.
