10kg is nothing, on my trip to Norway (which I talked about in reply to Isuldur's post) I carried a backpack weighing 22kg (that's 55lb if the ratio is correct), and I only weigh 52kg myself . That got less as the food ran out ofcourse.

Yeah, purifying tablets leave something of a chemical after taste. Easily remedied with adding something like grenadine though. Also helps if you're bored with drinking water all the time. Don't need a lot to add some flavor to it.
