#99521, "Don't hate the player, hate the game? Fat chance..."

Yes I know everyone hates me, yes I know I'm not going to change anyone's minds here. But here is my two cents on this whole crazy storm I apparently created. I will respond to those with specific goodbyes not covered here. I will not be responding much to haters, especially misinformed ones. Thanks for all the magical containers.

Concept
I had first thought this would just be an experiment in terribleness. I was looking at the neat new thief points tracking program on QHCF and thought to myself if it was possible to do two complete paths. I looked at them all and kept tossing around ideas and then said, "Well, lets take the two worst thief paths out there and put them together and see what shakes out." I had no thought in my head it was going to go well, and when I started it, well, it wasn't going well. I survive
like no one's business, but I was not deadly. My goal was to get two devious versatility so I could get both paths in poison and trap. And so I wrapped a role around that concept and went to playing.

Dispelling some Myths
Everyone has chimed in on this, and I have been quiet. I did not post on anyone elses' goodbyes, or any of the other threads, because of the sheer amount of vitrol and misinformation being spread around, I didn't want to hijack anyone's thread. So you all spoke, but its my time to speak, so here is my opinion. If it gets out of hand, I will stop responding and we'll leave it at that. If everyone keeps it civil to a respectful conclusion, I may let my secrets about these two paths out of the bag on the Wiki.

Thief Points
First of all, I had a total of 119 thief points, that is it. On QHCF, people were saying I had 130, 140 or more! Completely ridiculous. One of the problems with CF playerbase is they don't just think about anything, they just comment, and assume, and comment, and assume. 119 points, easily doable with two devious versitilities, of which I would have gotten anyway despite the role contest reward. Fuzzy math rules it seems. I am completely surprised no one went and actually checked if it was possible. Dozens of people were lambasting immortals and myself for this, when the answer was literally an inch away with a mouse click. (Trap) 56 + (Poison) 63 = 119. I had 0 other skills besides what was in those two paths.

Role Contest Reward
Again, blown way out of proportion. For my reward for winning the role contest, it was 9 thief points and an edge that extends the duration of my resistance. That is it. Role contest did not make or break this character and everything I achieved would have been achieved in the same timeframe through edge points anyway. It was appreciated although, thank you Immortals for doing this kind of thing.

Looting, Stealing, and the Such
I never full looted anyone. I stole to kill, I did not steal to cause grief. I stole magical containers and destroyed them, yes, on purpose, because they were avenues of escape and contained all host of things, healing pills, teleport potions, fly potions, scrolls, orbs of travel, etc. I took them because it was part of the pk for this kind of build. This build is not built around the standard pk, its more about controlling the other character's reality. WHich was a completely different way of pking than I have ever experienced, and frankly, it was pretty cool. This also included warriors whose second specs are things like whips, flails, polearms, etc. I stole those so you could not wield them against me when I forced you to get rid of the first set. It was all calculated. I usually left those weapons somewhere for them to be picked up, but then again, I'm a poisoner and so many people just assumed I poisoned them and did not get them. Not my problem.

Experienced players got respect, but lost their magical container. Newbies usually lost nothing, even magical containers. Assholes got more of the "stick" than I usually give. But even then, characters that full looted me to the pies, that I have killed many times in the past and left their things, never got full looted, or hardly looted after the incident.

Last, steal is a skill to be utilized. I used it to kill and I did kill. And I killed many powerful characters no one else could touch because of this skill. Perhaps people should stop using bash, or only use half the time to seal kills.

Poisoning and Contact poison
I never used contact poison ever (actually 1 time see below). There is not much use for it in my strategy I felt, as it was something that was really dibilitating for long, long periods of time. You think neuro is bad, get emetic for 50 to 75 hours (which I could have done), and then see the complaining. The only person I did it to was Gurzgred and I told him straight out I was poisoning his weapons with my taint, and it was part of the roleplay of it. Food and water poisoning I did when I was younger, but stopped near and at hero. Although poisoning food and water netted me a number of kills where I would find them exhausted and easy prey, I just didn't want to go there.

Last on poisoning. I am disappointed that Flaaayin took all the crap for things out of my control. Neurological poison may be a random duration depending on how badly you fail your save, who knows. 50 hours was a one time thing and everyone assumes its not. Its not like I control this. All I know is I took the worst possible combination out there and showed that with a little bit of time and thought, you can make it dangerous.

Trap Duration Stacking
Complete and utter crap. It doesn't stack at all except for the poison effect. And the poison effect also stacks when drinking poisoned containers, eating a poisoned thing while already poisoned. Its already in the game and has been for a decade, and now people complain? Ugh. As for the rest of the effects, none of you know the true work or time or anticipation of enemies you must do to get a good set of traps for them. The one ironic thing is I want to thank all of those who posted "complaining" logs on QHCF. Because before then I had no idea what my traps were doing, and that gave me huge amounts of information to hone my trap ingredient selection. So for that I thank you.

Magical Container Stealing
There was less then 5% of the characters I fought against who truly just thought about this and put in some very simple actions to completely solve this problem.

1. Wear your magical girdle of endless space. Almost everyone did not wear their containers, EVER. Rediculous, come on people, learn a little bit. Those that did dramatically increased their survivability, and didn't lose their prep bag. The problem is not with me stealing magical containers, the problem lies in that people are not willing to bloody figure out what went wrong in that encounter and apply that lesson to the next situation. It is really worth that extra +2 hit and
damage to not wear your girdle? I have no guilt about stealing wearable magical containers.

2. Floating Chest
Stolen, told you why I stole it, gave you suggestions on non magical alternates to find. Simple enough. Some I returned, or put the chest in a place that would cause them to contradict their belief system. Part of my deception roleplay. Some listened, most didn't, stolen again. Rinse and repeat. I guess I should just throw my whole roleplay about hating magic out of the window for the individuals who didn't figure out that carrying around a magical container is stupid.

Quaggoth and Logs Posted
Yes, I used the Quaggoth as a draw to find people to pk. Yes, I did write poems about him protecting him to bring humor to it. But again, logs come with circumstances, and no one even seems to address those. Again a whole host of assumptions where I'm picking on poor paladins who have done nothing. Those friendly paladins are getting blood to raid or hunt me (as well as getting blood for others like Nexus or Tribunal to hunt me). I'm not letting that happen, especially when they do it and come after me while I'm raiding Nexus. I have no regrets here. I mean honestly, poor paladins? Come on, I'm a chaotic evil Drillmaster. So many people I left alone that no one knows about. If you were a goodie and had not attacked me immediately afterward, or raided, or other such overt action, more often than not, I could have killed you three or four times over, but I left you be. If I wanted to be ruthless, there would have been a lot more corpses, and many paladins, fortress, outlander, tribunal (Tordoak specifically), Imperial, non-caballed know this for certain.

Suggest
I never used magic to further my ability to kill people. i.e. suggesting drinking things, or eating things. I stuck to my guns and only used suggest in non-magical ways and I was very successful. I had hoped taking this angle would get me some support by players, but alas. I did use suggest to have some fun with people and their cabal, of which I greatly enjoyed.

Poems
Each poem is part of my roleplay. I spent 5 or less minutes on each one. They are ad-hoc and meant to just be humorous and ironic and make fun of things most people get all bent out of shape on. Did Athioles have reasons to try to gang me down? Absolutely. Did any of these issues go beyond the poems? Nope. Hope you enjoyed them.

Goodbyes
Lots.

Immortals
Thror: Always enjoyable. There was a time in there I wanted to have a little more "play" with you specifically with the Rites and the quest, but you have a life too and I understand. Thanks for doing the quest and involving so many people. It was a great side role for my character and I feel I did come into my own role there. Again sorry for having to ditch on the Rites, life sometimes gets in the way of fun.

Lyst: Oh Imp. I followed you from hour 1 to hour 620, and no response. I hope everything is going okay. This was the one goal I never got which was to be tattooed by you. I felt maybe I deserved it, but you are again the ultimate decision on that. Good luck wherever you are!

Borkahd: Awesome presence, enjoyed our talks and interactions. Hope you enjoyed that gift, however perverse it was. I hope you continue to have a presence and do what you do best, which is basically everything when it comes to roleplay. Good luck.

Malakhi: Great guidance and presence as well. Your personality came through and it is great to have you overseeing the village.

Twist: One cannot be officially in Battle until they have been turned into a toad by Twist. Thanks for that, was one of my goals. Just next time, don't do it in Galadon with 3 Tribunals after you .

Immortals in General: Thanks again for the great game and everything you do.

Battle
Ghrimriddor: Watching you when you were young was like watching a fish flopping out of water. Sometimes your tail would crush your enemy, but most of the time, you ended up dead. You learned so many lessons under the eyes of Thera as the Commander, where most would do it out of the limelight. You handled it well enough. I attempted to push you to be harsher, and follow your heart, and when you were soft, I let it slide, specifically with Karrarrak. You were spot on in booting him
sooner, but oh well, I used him later against you .

Eck: Great partner in crime! A wonderful character and quite the personality that showed through. One of the best roleplayed characters that has gone undernoticed. Good luck with your next.

Karrarrak/Jikahl: Strong presences, good warriors, but so demanding and annoying. I had all your characters called within two minutes of even talking to them. Did it stop me from giving you a chance? No, but darn it, sometimes it was difficult not to just boot you for annoying me.

Shaidin: Where did you go? La Sigh. Great concept, wanted to see more.

Trunlak: Good job cutting people up. Sorry about the Rites. You were almost as deadly as Elgroth.

Elgroth: Scary monster. Throw you into a barrel with five nexus, seven scions, and three imperials, and you come out and no one else would. Great job being a beast. You were Mageslayer. When you died I took the title and never lost it.

Hyu: Strangely tough build. I had plans of defeating you in the rites, but then discovered the dagger of betrayal is also nodrop . Or else you would be wielding a wimpy poison dagger I was highly resistant to for the rest of the rites and you would have easily died. Unfortunately I had run out of ingredients at the end there and time was running short. On a side note, if traps worked AT ALL in the Rites, I would have killed everyone and won it easily. Unfortunately no trap skills at all worked (despite trust and all that), and I was left with just poisons.

Gryilious: Love you! Killing Rhone was a highlight and boy did we do it in style. I highly enjoyed playing with others that pick up on the flow of battle so well. i.e. "Oh we can trip her, well I'll trip, and I'll alternate in pattern to guarantee this one doesn't get away". And low and behold, he didn't.

Young Applicant Thief: You know who you are. Don't make me come back from the grave and claim that coin! Make good use of it and make me proud!

The "Booted": I believe I booted 16 people? Maybe 20, but a lot. ALthough many said I was just a softy ruining Battle, I did more than most Drillmasters and Commanders combined in trying to maintain some order. To all of you, most of you just cut and run, while one, Phoalex, stuck it out.

Phoalex: You have great respect from me for toughing it out and getting back in, good job.

Scion
CC: Highlight of my career killing you with a backstab and traps only. You killing me on the water, I always knew I should carry a boat, but was lazy. Again, lazy gets you killed in CF, never didn't have a boat again. I also panicked, some things I could have done with suggestion would have saved me.

Volker: Invokers.... I have killed many, but the prepared is a dangerous creature. Best trick ever suggesting you to inher flight so I could trip you. As for your rants about poisons, sorry. There are some very strong poison ingredients out there that I took advantage of, especially neuro and knock out. Perhaps some durations should be looked at (its obvious who you were on the forums), but then again thats not my call. There are serious drawbacks compared to any other thief I won't get into here when it comes to a lot of things which you just "glass" over.

Zhincala: Never could pin you down. Saved by circumstances usually. Keep on trucking, I know what a conjurer in Scion can

do. You can be more nasty!

Fortress
Rhone: Pillar oh pillar how I do not like you. You definitely did not like me and its understandable. Always had good rumbles. One thing I suggest is actually try to deprotect yourself some. If people feel they can do nothing against you but grazes, they won't stick around. But you seem to know what you are doing and keep on trucking.

Athioles: Although we seemed to dislike you I never really disliked you. I know you disliked me judging by the hordes of people you brought to take me down, but I'm fine with that. I'm one slippery bastard and it is very very hard to kill me on one's own. I hope you enjoyed my ad-hoc poem and hopefully no hard feelings. I will give you the award although for using cry of the phoenix more like "convienence gate" than anyone else I have ever seen.

Drasden: I was pretty difficult for you even with the tiger. It seems slippery escape edge helps with pouncing in general. Which allowed me to get some things set up to deal with you. I completely understand your approach for coming after me as a player and have no hard feelings. You did a great job taking down all the other evil thieves in the village although, so hats off.

Drayden (shaman): I had a hard time dealing with the fact of five and six on one gangs coming after me, but when you are alone I'm supposed to leave you alone unless you can rot me. I did instigate a stealing lesson plan (but never killing you) on magical containers specifically because of you. Strangely enough, that lesson plan actually worked, and I had a vast majority of non-mage Fortress simply not fighting me, even when they could see me. That would be the closest to griefing I
think I got. And when you stopped hunting me, it all stopped and many can attest to that.

Tribunal
Radik: Silly paladin. "I cannot fight you or I will lose my belongings." or the best one "Fighting you is hopeless, I will just stay in towns you are not in." If that is your roleplay that is awesome stuff. Solid follower you have there Twist.

Mundin: Never broke you. Between your resistant to poison forms, and all the other crap (regen/etc). I could not take you down. I did try although, boy did I try. Great fights.

Vindicator: I'm a different creature to hunt arn't I? When flyto becomes dangerous for you its a different story. Got you a few times, great fights, always kept me on my toes. What a powerful combination, good luck with what you do next.

Tordoak: So many times I could have easily murdered you but left you be. You just standing around made you an easy target which I did not take advantage of. Good job getting me there near the end.

Empire
Sivyh: Good interactions. I never really hunted you with the full force I could have. Keep up the good Imperial work. That last time where you came in and ruined my little trap fir Ististin made me angry so I came after you. If I had become Commander, our arrangement would have been completed.

Kjaz: I will give the full and upmost respect to whoever played this character for being actually someone who learned from their fights with me. You compensated and pulled out some unexpected awesome things. The best was in the sewers where you rested first (lesson one), took a potion out of your WORN CONTAINTER (lesson two and three), I attacked to keep you from quaffing the potion with blindness dust which worked but you had a potion out and quaffed away to safety. Everyone else in these situations make the same mistakes, and you learned them. And for that, you are an awesome player.

Norington: Ah, the one who I killed on a number of occasions, left your belongings, and I die to Kjaz, Oringus, and you and well, full loot. Which is fine. Good luck, you were coming into your own at the end there. If I made this combonation in Empire, woe be everyone....

Others: Lots of you, post and I'll respond.

Herald
Not tons of interaction. I was quickly banned from the Inn anyway for doing mean things to people.

Nexus
Alyssia: Good fights, interesting interactions, all in all not a disappointing character in my eyes. Much more cautious after that raid where I killed both of you when you both had Quaggoth blood in you. As they say on QHCF, at that time I was just a "glorified trapper" who cannot do anything. We are quite the opposites but leaders in our own right. I find the difference to fall more along alignment than anything else. I'm chaotic evil, and you are true neutral, obviously we are going to have some major differences, and I enjoyed that.

Chulun: Another character that put lessons to practice. Good job prepping to deal with strength loss of traps especially. Also, good job carrying no remove light maces, especially in your offhand. Another smart player.

Aelo: The walrus/komodo dragon. Tough nut to crack, but found ways to do it, but took a lot of trying. Keep walrusing out.

Others: Lots, post and I'll respond.

Outlander
Balta: Always good talks although we never fought. If we did it would have been awesome. Where did our favorite blue imp go? La sigh.

Onya: I don't think I ever got you, but got close. Paranoid as hell, and the ability to sit in camo meant I could not get you when you were not prepared. Good job killing everything. I enjoyed being the x factor in the Outlander versus Tribunal raids. Where I would simply kill off mages on both sides or just ruin everyone's day by causing havoc in general.

Other
Jekor: Thanks for some tips and interesting interactions. You are a strange bear. Where is the Truncheon when you need it?

All in all an interesting ride. A lesson in a completely different way to PK. Please post and I'll respond with a goodbye to you specifically. Just a lot of people to remember.
