#34115, "You have supported my argument."

Pro, you're a military guy if I remember right. Let's try and draw a parallel. You are in enemy headquarters with your CO and some of your fellow enlisted gentlemen. You get into a dispute with one of them. Your CO tells you to get it resolved and get back to the work at hand. You tell him it'll stop when the other guy stops pissing you off. Personally, I'd expect to get drilled in the mouth for coping attitude like that in a situation like that. Especially when he was forewarned to let it go.
I have been in this situation to some degree.
I got into it with a fellow NCO who made claims that Myself, the Platon Sergeant and my Squad all thought we were special, because we snuck over to a different camp and ate from their chow-line.
For what ever reason I went off on him and in the end we were both written up.
Later on in the war, I had sprained my ankle and in a foul mood because I was not alowed to return to work with an injury that didn't prevent me from performing my duties.
Another NCO made deragatory remarks about me (Baseless ones this time =) ) and we had it out for all the world to see.
We were pulled aside and chewed out, and sent on our way and allowed to resolve our issues.
I got promoted, NCO #1 got demoted for stealing from hi own troops, and NCO #2 went into a catatonic state and now serves the military by staring listlessly at walls.
The Moral? If they had thrown me out at Day one they would have lost someone who tried and fell short from time to time, but kept a thief and an invalid.
In combat I'm in charge and I wouldn't tolerate any crap, but when it was all over there would be a reckoning that revolved around burning the camp #### buckets, not expulsion from the Armed Services for bickering. Because that's what soldiers do. they bicker, they fight, they do childish things to each other. Sometimes they even hate each other, but it's my job to make sure they work with each other if possible, and then only as a last result do I recommend the harshest penalties.
Being a leader with an edge doesn't mean ignoring the needs and wants of your subordinates.
I am a hard-ass SOB, and I don't take crap, but I back-up my people, even as I discipline them. I take time to know them, and they all know that I care about them and I will give my all for them.
If they fall short, I'll pick them up and carrythem froward until such time they have shown themselves to be inadequate.
Naref cornered Ahlun was unrelenting in his critisism and uncarring of his situation.
