Chapter 4

The shadows grow silent. Perhaps death will bring them to bear.

Nuerria and those before me in the chasm have been simply used as pawns, but
not by the denizens once called by the Ebony Scepter, but by other forces of
darkness and used until there was nothing left to use. Now this fool Nuerria
holds the knowledge she gained being nothing more than a pawn of our enemies
close to herself, as if telling the story of her folly would be giving her
power away.

More disturbing, she doesn't recognize it as folly. The shadows are silent,
and so are the spirit realms. But so to, are the mages within the chasm. If
our enemies provide more knowledge than those within, we are undone and none
of it matters anyway. And so, I shall go to my deepest instincts that have
served me, be they to great glory for the Night, or to its ruin in finality.

Destruction works through me, Only the archmage or the dark lords of the
Scions can stop me now, and I will tear, rend, and feast until I have my
answers, or all is ash. In the end, I too will be ash, and am under no
delusions of grandeur as these other petty mages are. Let them keep their
conceit, and I will keep their bones.
