Chapter 3

Seeing that Kaer was nothing but a blank-minded fire fanatic, his kin
started to turn away from him. Sure, he was but a child, but the progress
he showed so far made it evident that nothing useful would grow out of
him. And for Kiadana inhabitants, what was useless, did not need to be
supported. His kin started to resent him, alienating him even further.
This behavior did not go unnoticed by the young giant, and he slowly
came to mirror the relationship. Adding his obsession with fire, it was
only a matter of time when his troubled mind came to conclusion that
Kiadana village was not to be, that home of fire giants should be
replaced with flames themselves.

Soon the ill-minded design was born, to discreetly go to the lowest
levels of the village, by the lava river, and fracture the shores
holding the stream, making wave of magma overflow and flood the innards
of the mountain, triggering the volcano explosion. The volcano would
wipe away the fire giants, assaulting storm giants and other denizens
of the isle all alike, turning the mountain into the embodiment of
flames. And the plan came to motion.

It would not be a great surprise to anyone familiar with the fire
giant way of thought that secret plot like this was bound to fail. The
first thing Kaer has said to his few relatives when he came up with
the plan was "I will burn you all. The volcano will swallow your petty
shacks. The flames will be beautiful". Such is the nature of Kiadana
inhabitants, they are straightforward and ruthless, not secretive and
plotting.

As soon as his plans became apparent to other fire giants, Kaer's fate
was sealed. As he did not do anything so far, it did not end in a death
sentence, but he was cast out of the Kiadana. Barely making it past the
storm giant soldiers, he fled the mountain. Wearing nothing but torn
rags, having no supplies, crippled from his birth and bruised from his
short travel, Kaer made it into the chaos-cursed valley near Kiadana.
