Chapter 3

Deep in a dark cavern of the underdark, three drow magi made their home and
workshop hidden deep away from where any would find them.

"Are you Sure you can keep him asleep, Helenga? I don't want him waking up
while I'm inking his skin. I need time to make the lines perfect, or this
will not work. This isn't the same as drawing the symbols on armor or a
large axe blade."

"Don't worry about me, just make sure you tattoo those runes where I told you,
and if you question my knowledge of anatomy again I'll intruduce you to one of
my golems."

"If you two don't stop bickering, I'll wake him up and let him loose on you
both! Need I remind you how much time we have before his mind goes so blank
that his brain won't be able to tell his limbs to even MOVE?!"

"Yes Archmage," Helenga and Fenceran said as the swiftly got back to their
work. This was not a formal school of magic by any means.

"Are the bindings ready, Gerguel?"

"Yes Archmage, used alloys ya gave mah, smithed well like ya said. Soft
when right heat, but once combine and cool they harder than diamond. Hope
ya give me more sometime, I'll make ya fine blade ehh," said the duergar.

All preperation had been completed. After Fenceran was done, the backside
of Kurbrawn was covered in a web of black lines and arcane symbols. All
the lines rooted from a spot in the middle of the back of his neck, where
the spine meets the brains. Around his neck were three metal collars, all
with engraved symbols similar to those tattooed on his back.

The three drow stood around Kurbrawn as he lay on the wookbench. Each one
of them took a strand of their hair and tied it to a different collar.

"It's now or never, our time drawns near," the Archmage hissed softly.

The three of them bagan chanting and the ritual had begun. They repeated
the words until the collars glowed bright. The hairs poofed one by one
and as the third one poofed Kurbrawn's eyes opened wide.

"Can you hear me, Kurbrawn?" the Archmage said. There was no reponse.
"Stand up, Kurbrawn" the Archmage said. Kurbrawn quickly stood up,
breaking all the chains that were binding him.

The Archmage cracked a grin and said "It worked! Let us go test him."
