Chapter 3

For as long as I can remember, I have felt its presence.
Flowing through me as if I were nothing more than a
hollowed Oak tree, or perhaps an empty void. In a world
of filthy thieves, and ugly abominations, the closest
I ever come to peace is within its presence. As I call
forth silent ice, or thunderous fireballs I revel in
their devastating power. I have grown strong in the ways
of magic, and by doing so, have grown strong in knowledge.
However, the stronger I become the more I begin to wonder
if I will eventually lose myself in the grip of its
power. I often awaken to find the air around me at
sub-freezing temperature, even though it is the middle
of summer. Other times, in a fit of rage, I might start
a fire with no magical words being uttered. I wonder,
do I, if it is I who control this power or the other
way around. Other times, I think to myself, if I were
to be overcome by this power, would it be so bad? This
force that I love so? In any case, I have no choice but
to continue down my path. This is my destiny. This is
my path. A path towards untold power, and knowledge.
