#875, "October Role Contest"

The Original Note:

< 19> Mon Sep 25 20:02:43 2006
From : Kastellyn
To : All
Subject: Role Contest!

It's that time again! Role Contest time! Your chance to impress
myself and our "Guest Judge" Muuloc with your awe-inspiring roles.

Just send a note to Kastellyn and Muuloc with the subject
"Role Contest", and we'll do the rest. You don't have to include
the role in the note, either!

The usual disclaimers: all entries written after the date/time of
this note won't be eligible for this Role Contest (but will be
for the next one). Deadline to get us your name is midnight this
Friday (29 September).

Good luck!

The Results:

There were over forty entries, covering all races, classes and Cabals, which made the final judging very difficult.

Winner: Nefla - Great job keeping the role updated, and showing how the character has changed over time. You really get a taste of the character's mind through the role, and it was definitely interesting.

First Runner-up: Uthral - Great twist on immortality, very nicely integrated CF "history" and culture into the role.

Second Runner-up: Deeag - Just a cool piece of work, created a very interesting concept that works really well with the mythos of CF.

Third Runner-up: Fadderth - Not the most original of roles, but very well-written and enjoyable to read. Nice touch working Nordiach and Aarn's departure into it as well.

Fourth Runner-up: Dirjssriyl - One of the most original character creation concepts I've ever read, really interesting take on dreams.

Kastellyn Honorable Mention: Eostaire - Dark-elves beware, the canary raiser is coming for you!

Muuloc Honorable Mention: Nastagio - Written with a distinct feel and exploratory style. Ethereal and chilling.

Overall, there were a LOT of really excellent roles, and the winners were very close to the next fourteen or so. Thanks from both Muuloc and I for providing us with such well-written stories and entertainment. IC rewards will follow as we tailor them to each individual.

Kastellyn the Devourer of Magic, Lord of Legends
