71741, Main page and in game helpfiles
Posted by SPN on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Morius' helpful is not available on the main page.

Is the helpful database shared, or are they two separate files (maybe formatted differently) that have to be duplicated? I feel like I have ran into other instances but they are not coming to mind.

I can't log in right now, but also can't shut off role ideas...

Like one that’s says what comes with each virtue.

I think this is intentional. I wasn't around when the class is made, so I'm not going to touch this one in case it was intentionally. I will ask some older folks if that's the case though.

Thanks!

What’s the difference between that and shaman paths?

I mean it’s on the diku wiki anyways.
72069, RE: If it was intentional
Posted by Ishuli on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Not sure. I wasn't in on making paladins/virtues/etc., so I really can't speak to reasons or anything. I'm just hesitant to touch something I think might have been intentional.

Still, if it comes up and minds change, I'll change it :).

Thanks!

72061, MIssing Expertise on Ranger Help Page
Posted by Ranger Help File Reader on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I thought you would like to know the ranger help page is missing:

- hunter is now a choice for dark-elf (missing)

- beastmaster is now a choice for frost giants (missing)

- scourge of mosquitos link at level 38 doesn't link to a help file and actually I think this is a spell not skill?

Thanks a ton!

Everything you just mentioned is now pending fixed for the next update of the website. Might wait till I find some more errors before making it live.

Also updated all the expertise/terrain helpfiles with the same.

Thanks a bunch, extra eyes really do help!

You said Explorer instead of Hunter! Ooooh, shame on you!

Just kidding these were a lot of help

All the helpfiles are now fixed, the previous website updates are in, and these website updates (ancestral spirits, fashion bow) will go in the next update.

Seriously, thanks a ton, the list format made it really easy for me to work on :).

Edited to add: Should be live now, take a peek and make sure I got everything!
71742, Morius Helpfile
Posted by Rahsael on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
There seems to be some kind of a disconnect somewhere involving things I don't fully understand, so the helpfiles available on the website are outdated.

Here's a band-aid:

MORIUS 'VITIATIC FAITH' 'THE CHURCH OF VIRTUOUS VICES'
The Church of Virtuous Vices, also known as the Vitiatic Faith, centers itself
around the worship of vices and sins in all of their forms. Zealously immoral,
members of the church are extremely dogmatic, constantly preaching their faith
to the masses while aiming to convert (or kill) those around them.

Followers of Morius and his church aim to bring every possible Theran into the
fold of the church, and go to great lengths to do so. Always boisterous and
sometimes charismatic, the faithful never miss an opportunity to provide words
of wisdom and the offer of blessings to those in need, often to the needy's
detriment.

While they all actively preach the word of their lord, the most blessed of the
church aim to fully embody whatever vice they find closest to their heart. As
a walking manifestation of sin upon Thera, they hope to inspire similar vices
in those around them. Those who manage this level of devotion are titled and
recognized by the church, often becoming canonized within the church as a
saint.

While all are welcome to join the church, its philosophy tends to deter anyone
with moral values. The most successful are those born under one of the
chosen signs of Gluttony, Lust, Greed, Pride, Rage, Vanity, or Sloth. Those
born under less fortunate signs fit only as members of the church, never
canonized leaders.

Shamans following Morius can find the paths of Pain, Demonspawn, Hell's Pact,
Divine Anger, and Breaker available to them.

While the church has many tenets, the most well-known religious text is as
follows:
Blessed are those who follow these commandments.
I. Sin. Indulge.
II. Every soul shines with potential. Seek to convert all you can.
III. Those who are not open to conversion may be welcomed into the church as
bones to be added to its foundation.

Rumors state that members of the faith are most often seen entering and exiting
Galadon's graveyard, leading the gullible and desperate on the path to become
a Morite, Vitiate, Morian, or whatever they might call themselves.

Without checking everything I can tell you parry is not a level 23 skill anymore.

We're hoping to edit the website over the next few weeks and get those fixed up.

Thanks for pointing that one out!

Speaking of rangers, maybe modify the entropy helpfile to mention that none mages can join?

Edit.- While on update mode, what about removing the nexus room from the academy?

71831, Wait, what since when?
Posted by SPN on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
That wasn't the case earlier this year when I rolled Kyllothan.
71832, RE: Wait, what since when?
Posted by Ishuli on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I just test-rolled a dark-elf and yes, they can be hunters. So can gnomes.

So I've got some pending changes to the site set up. Some typo fixes, correcting the ranger grids (add hunter to dark-elf, add beastmaster to frost giant, add hunter to gnomes on expertise helpfile), knocking the seasonal stuff off of Frost Giant race page, adding a link to inherent flight for arials.

I don't THINK I missed any of them? So once this update gets in it should look right. Still big thanks to folks who point that stuff out.

If you see anything else funky on either the site or helpfiles, please mention it.

71833, Assassin Kicks
Posted by DeathIncarnate on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I'm not sure this is what you are after but these changes were made in Jan 2014 to assassin kicks however they are not mentioned in current help files.

- Wheel Kick is faster if you know Mountain Storm Kick.
- Side Kick blocks one attack if successful (like feint/cross). Having Double Spin Kick improves it a little more.
- Scissor Kick is a little faster, works a little more, and lets the assassin take one extra attack the following round if successful. Having Rising Phoenix Kick improves it a little more. Probably it's still not good enough to use past the teens but it's a start.
71836, RE: Assassin Kicks
Posted by Ishuli on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Yeah I see them here: http://forums.carrionfields.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=47&topic_id=57&mesg_id=57&page=

I even see someone wrote up their version of how they'd present it. The only issue I have is that most helpfiles don't go into THAT much detail.

BUT I would be okay adding a more general line about how skill in subsequent kicks might improve some of the earlier kicks. As a general comment on 'assassin kicks' helpfile.

On hero, wheel kick becomes the move with most dps if your target can't be thrown.
