71134, Question for Panmorne
Posted by SPN on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Just curious if you could share your approximate times (since they are not listed in wizlist)? I understand if there is no regularity to it, but not having even approximations makes me wonder if it is even worth rolling up a follower since I have limited time myself. The advice to pray/note seems a little "meh" since that is what I do with all characters seeking to follow a religion anyway.
71137, Go for it.

Without going into too much detail revealing times, etc...

I can't imagine you having trouble getting empowered by this
Immortal. Certainly *far* easier than Jormyr. Maybe that's why
no-one ever comes by my shrine. *sob*
71144, I can think of lots reasons why a sane character wouldn't walk into your shrine. NT

Implement a tat power that progs berserk and cranial -int affect on a tattoo holder.
71167, Something might happen down the road.

Originally, it was a matter of my being an excited new Imm like six
years ago, and not wanting to wait on a tattoo power being coded to
go live. Also, the fact that my tattoo does nothing (and is a
relatively rare sight) has given me a little extra leeway if I ever
ask for a more personalized reward for a follower.

Finally, after all this time I'd gotten to a point where I decided if
I get something put in, I'd be trying to make certain it serves a
purpose based on the religion, and isn't just "Sweet, here's a random
extra boost".

As Cointreau hinted towards regarding going to Jormyr's shrine,
though...given Jormyr's nature, you may not actually enjoy the powers
Jormyr might gift.

*Edit - forgot to add. I definitely appreciate the responses from
you guys. I thought I just had my own version of jalim or
onewingedangel who was the only guy crazy enough to roll up
followers. Apparently it's like...three!
71182, Yeah! That's like half the MUD! :) nt

Randomly selected rage/damage skill

Frenzy
Zeal
Nightfist
Bloodthirst
Aristea
Berserk
Rage thing from ignite

Some cause concerns for goodies, aristea might get you killed, berserk can mess with skill drops, bloodthirst can kill you and your group.

An unpredictable rage monster, fits the mold, is useful, has deep downsides.

In Jormyr's defense, most tattoos don't do anything. Ones that do are less common than those that don't, so he's not the odd man out.
71174, Tattoo powers have always been one of the coolest features of CF and here’s why:
Posted by TJHuron on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
To begin there was always the mystery of wondering what an imms tat did. Especially when a new one pops up. That hope of discovery always motivated me to RP harder to see what potentials could be unlocked. In this way it’s similar to exploring areas looking for new and cool loot.

Also, it was a guaranteed way you could beef your character. You may or may not have known exactly how but you knew it would do something and usually something helpful. In this way it is like skill maxing or working toward an edge.

Tattoos take a lot of work but they are worth the work for the cool boons. Honestly, if I really want to work hard on a character to make it unique with abilities a tattoo power is the way I’m going to go because hoping for a special imm reward beyond something minor like say, a cabal edge, is like grandma hoping to hit the big jackpot at the bingo parlor. It happens to grandmas, sure, just enough for them to all keep trying, but grandma needs to play a ####load of bingo and still have a lucky shamrock for it to happen to her. Especially if she’s hoping to do it more than once.
71181, There's an important lesson here for the imms

I think we generally don't like idea of doing something just for its mechanical reward. However, this is a MUD not a MUSH, and a PK one at that. Players of our game want mechanical rewards AND role-play.

I get a tattoo because 1, it feeds my ego when people look at me 2, i know i'll get a neat little boost to my character 3, i know it means a lot of good RP with a top notch role-player (my immortal.)

Jormyr is pretty awesome, though, even if his tattoo is just for looks.

Emnon's tattoo does things, so clearly SOME new imms tats have powers. Insider trading between the undead? Someone call K-B and get the scoop on this new conspiracy theory. ;)
71170, I've wanted to try a Jormyr follower, but...

I've still been unable to locate your shrine for one, and you are usually listed as dorment :P.

Go to the hinted area and randomly push directions, Jormyr style :)

At least that's how I found it :)

And remember kids, always make sure to threaten Jormyr. It's totally 100% safe to threaten an evil giant god, and is the quickest way to get some respect.

Totally Jormyr style.

Is to murder his follower while he rps with them in his shrine. It's fine as long as you run away afterwards.
71185, I think he would actually like that (nt)

It hasn't worked out too well for me so far.

I've done it three times and a different god pkd me each time.

But it is still very fun to do.

Most of the time, evil gods are fine with their followers being killed in the shrine. Perhaps orderly evil - not so much.

Try that on a not so evil god - and you'll find yourself in trouble.
