Thanks for the response. I thought the helpfile for orc said that they averaged in the low 500s hour-wise. Garfuka lived to be 543 and made chief very early. Maybe the helpfile's wrong or I am mis-remembering what it said.

If there was an aging wither at any point, accidently pushing an age threshold via age gear are 2 big ones.

Orcs tend to be short in the years aspect of age so those things would have a larger impact on the hours for an orc.

Pushing an age threshold with gear? Are you sure that that can shorten lifespan? I know you cannot go down a threshold once you cross it, but your age returns to normal once you take off a piece of age gear even if you happened to bump up to the next threshold by wearing it. Could this be a recent change? Because your words have scared me.

But you may have no time to take it off if you wear it and immediately croak of old age.

Once you are old enough to reach mature, old age, etc, you
permanently gain the associated +mental -physical stats. These never
go away once you remove said gear or die to remove it. This is the
same for if you go past your "age death" age. You die, and the
character is now age-dead. I've actually done this inadvertantly
with one of my orcs who then age-died at 200 hours because he wore an
axe that was like +15 age. It suxxored.

When Dest said "pushing the age threshold via gear" he meant age death. I thought he was saying that if you went mature from gear, you could shorten your lifespan even after it's removed. So, it's working as I thought it did. Thanks.
