I left a bunch of stuff on the ground (to reduce my dodging weight) After I returned to them, about half had disappeared. I'm reasonably sure nobody swiped them as it was in a very out of the way place. Can someone explain to me what stuff rots, and in what circumstances?

I believe this is old code to prevent people from cloning (A gives stuff to B. B saves. A or B crashes mud) or passing eq. Can't see a logical reason for it, so I'll put it on my Santa's wishlist for next year's stuff to be removed =)
Edit: I'm a little tipsy, so I might be wrong (highly unlikely).. It also means I'm too lazy to put it on the actual Santa wishlist.
