How many people are used to catch bad descriptions, write areas or do other (somewhat) menial mud tasks? Is there really anything they could be doing of greater import than feeding the MUD with new people?

You just have to up marketing on the priority list. It is VERY important! You just have to believe that it is more important than anything else (because it is) and you'll find a way.
