You might consider rolling a character that's a really good fit for the cabal you have in mind. For example, if you want to go Empire, intentionally make an orderly evil character of one of the sected classes. If you want to be a squire/maran, make a good-aligned character you think you can actually PK a few evil characters with and then do it, etc.

Someone who's playing, say, Battle for the tenth time probably has a solid enough understanding of what does and does not work with respect to Battle that they can play an anti-paladin and have a fair chance of getting inducted; the first few times out I think you can make things easier for yourself by making a more archetypal character (e.g. paladin for Fort or whatever.)
