Has anyone given much thought to allowing a player to barter for several items with one single item that is worth the multiple items?

For example, if I wanted to buy 10 "snickerdoodles" and each costs 500 copper, and I had a single item worth 5000+ copper, I could barter for the 10 snickerdoodles with just the one item for trade, rather than having to carry 10 items worth 500+ to barter for 10 "snickerdoodles"?

Reason why I ask is that if I took a diamond ring to a pawn shop, I could trade it for multiple items. There are several instances in game that this would be helpful with, not to mention a certain cabal that frowns upon using coins. ;)

Just curious if this has come up before, if it has been given any consideration, and if it has not or will not be considered, why not?
