Not sure what the current forum software is capable of, but it might help (or it might not) to see about something like the reddit or slashdot system of promoting or burying comments on a thread... Give the silent majority a little button to bury asshole comments and promote useful ones and maybe we'd get a more tolerable (for players and IMMs) forum environment.

Then again, maybe not. It is still the internet after all.
