Posted by Auma-enka on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Well, actually been contemplating deletion for some time now, and with unempowerment, I thought might as well do it. Reason for the contemplation at all wasn’t that I don’t enjoy the game, or the class..In fact, I really really enjoyed the healer class and wouldn’t mind playing another. But I couldn’t, in all her life, get ‘into’ the character’s true rp except occasionally, and I didn’t like that. On a normal day, I wouldn’t have deleted with an unempowerment, but attempt to get it back. But I truly haven’t got much time to do so these days, plus it was going to be pointless this time round as I couldn’t fully feel the character’s rp. First empowerment character, first Scion and first evil hero. And being busy with school and all, perhaps an empowerment character isn’t good for me. Was a learning experience, thanks to everyone who gave me a chance.

Didn’t really enjoy the Scion cabal, it’s too paranoid for my liking. :P I wouldn’t mind trying one again some day though. Perhaps being my first evil hero, I found certain things a bit strange.

Aumaenka was a Lyristeon healer..and boy was it confusing! At first, she tried to ‘worship’ him as is priestess, then he says not to. Says not to pray for power, then he says hello. Not to do this, then ‘why don’t you do that?’. Hehheh..It was an eye-opener and interesting religion. I think it was with my sphere choice..I should have gone one of the other two and not Wisdom. I have come to realise I do not enjoy or do well playing spheres along the lines of ‘Wisdom, knowledge, reason, magic, etc’ but more of ‘Combat, pride, war, protection, and everything else.’

Some farewells :
IMMORTALS :
Lyristeon : Only one person I felt sorry for with the making of this character and that was you. I learnt some things, but for your side it must have took a lot of patience and tolerance with me. Thanks very much for giving me the chance at empowerment. I admit I never got the hang of your religion but it was something I’ve always wanted to try – a scion lyristeon healer. Didn’t work out the way I wanted it to. If I do play another of yours, I promise it’ll be a better one! ;)

P.s. I never healed the captain or typed ‘murder eyzy’. I only healed the captain and aided the tribunals when they fought the villagers the day before. I guess you didn’t like me healing/mixing with tribunals at all. When you said you enjoyed free spirits, I guess you didn’t like me mixing with order. I misinterpreted it as ‘do whatever I like as long as it pleases me’. Do pardon me! :(

Anyway, you were a cool imm to follow. Thanks for everything!

Scion imms : Didn’t see you guys much, but you seemed to be watching all the time, which was cool.

Running with Imperials got me into trouble huh. :) As a Lyristeon healer, and one of the spheres being deception, I thought I could deceive the Imperials (and the highest in ranks) in retrieving the scepter for me from the giant as I had been warring the giant plus rawnie/koai for a long time already then. I planned to laugh at them when the giant fell and the scepter returned to the scions, and followed them on their raid on the fortress only to gain their trust. Unfortunately, I didn’t know they were in a truce. So trouble it was. :(

The Quest was cool..never tested out my baffle properly though. Thanks for allowing me to participate in it!

SCION :
Maztriel – Boy were you pushy and bossy! :) First day I entered and had to work so hard already. You could properly tell that Aumaenka wasn’t really quite loyal to you, and was sweet to the point of sickening. She knew you knew that she wasn’t fully loyal, but that was her intention – to irritate the Chancellor without making mistakes to give him reason to kick her.

Anyway, cool char with all that evilness and bossy figure. You’re doing great as Chancellor too..you’re the one who is making Scion strong. Keep up the really good work!

Gondrak – I liked you and your independence.

Zilopza – Aumaenka didn’t like you..competition in the Chasm! :) The first time I saw you I was like ‘damn!’..cos now the Chancellor could kick me out anytime or with any minor mistake. Anyway, you seemed to know what you’re doing and all, good luck in the Chasm! And, nice snobbish rp.

Nalyo – Only met you once in Aumaenka’s entire lifespan, but I liked you as a player.

VILLAGE :
Fought with you guys a lot, and I enjoyed every moment of it. In fact, my most pleasant memories of this character was all that fighting. Be it one one one, group to group, or ganks in or against my favour. Loved it!

Gerylanst – With this character I saw you die a lot. Sorry about that! ;( And I knew how much con you had left averagely as you told my last char. so when I saw you die each time it was quite painful. Plus, I liked you a lot. I liked the excitement you brought to the Chasm without a doubt whenever you woke. Great job, high-class character.

Lisl – Another Villager I really liked. Liked your aggression and indifference. And you were so freaking powerful! All the bleeding and minus str + dex was truly an annoyance. Even with two of us, you could stand your ground or send us running. Definitely knows what you’re doing and deserves the position. Keep up the great work and really hope you stick around!

FORTRESS :
Didn’t fight you guys much. Was surprised that most of the time when I woke and saw 3 or so of you around, the scepter was still with us. :) I remember one time 3 of you (paladin and 2 warriors) coming to the Chasm and leaving after awhile even though there was only me there. Truly you could have slain me/gotten the scepter :) 3 of you could really stress a healer out if you wanted to.

Props to Dorn/Alven. Only 2 who would really come for the scepter with/without scions about and fight them. Oh and Senisblat too. 3 of the cooler Fort chars. Faltarn props to all that heart as well.

TRIBUNAL :
Zimel – I enjoyed running about with you. I guess Lyristeon wasn’t too happy about that heh. Anyway, really liked your char and following him about. All the best with Provost.

EMPIRE :
Yagharek – Fought you as war master with my last char, and you weren’t all that tough. Fighting you as Emperor now, and man, you were a beast really. I was shocked the time you killed me at the Archmage in a few short rounds with sigil/flurry through all my protections. I barely had time to react at all. :) Props for that and keep up the great job running Empire!

OTHERS :
Kealor – Pardon all that bullying with Aumaenka. :) I enjoyed how you were both interested in both the rp and pk factor with Aumaenka, and how you weren’t bothered too much by deaths. I had no idea why you died so much with me either, but everytime I told you to flee, you would just stand there or be spamming something. Thanks very much for all the aid retrieving, much appreciated!

Don’t know what to play as of yet, but I think I’ll stop for a bit until I get time to really play one nicely. 2 days of not playing, then playing again in a cycle gets me a bit disjointed with my char. Perhaps I’ll roll something just for fun. :)

I reposted this from a response I did below, case you missed it.

Enjoyed our fights.

Repost: I never logged anything but my funniest memory was fighting Aumenka, the scion healer. I was about rank 28-30, she had seven ranks or so on me. I was fighting her and nightwalker and getting tooled. Well relatively beat I guess....

Finally realized afterwards that I didnt have whips, flails, staffs, ect, even learnt. SHe was beating on me like a dog. It was a dumb blond moment. Dealing with this meat head intelligence and gains was an eye-opener. I was saving all my trains for hero knowing that villagers have their work ahead of them. Soon as I was done fighting her, I headed to galadon and started training all those damn weapons. 17 intelligence, BLAH!

Anyhow, I thought it was remotely amusing.

You run to the Village to recover and we fight a bit on and off while Aumaenka yells and tries to annoy you into coming out while she has a picnic with the giant.

Healers are lots of fun to mess around with in pk except they usually can't seal the kill. :P And all hail the Nightwalker! He's a great guy.

I remember a similar fight with you that spanned from the Chasm to the Eastern too..but that's for another time. Thanks for the all the fights Grorefang, was fun.

Well, I'm sorry your Scion experience wasn't all that great. It tends to be a lot more fun when we have time to do things other than raid/retrieve & there are other scions around to rp with. I actually really liked Aumaenka but Maztriel was of course deeply suspicious. If the chasm had been full when you pulled that imperial stunt I would likely have kicked you. However, we were and are in need of more numbers so I kept you around and assigned you a task that I could decide you'd failed at when it was convenient to get rid of you. Also I loved your rp so that stayed my hand as well. I wasn't always pushy and bossy, pretty much came upon me when I became Chancellor and it's one of the ways that I'm express my evilness. It also gives people opportunity to work against me. Take longer in doing a task, don't do it but say you did, etc. Again, sorry you didn't have the greatest time in Scion, but we are sad to see you go.

All the best,
Maztriel

I actually enjoy raids and retrievals..more of defending though ;) Scion powers for healers are great and lots of fun for that especially.

The problem I have is differentiating oocness with evilness. For example, full-looting repeatedly, that imperial stunt thing, etc. I feel really bad if I cause my groupmate a death (contributing to con-deaths!) even if it's done according to role. I guess I don't do evils well.

I did claim credit for certain things when I didn't do much at all. ;) Thanks for the through induction interview, and the opportunity to try Scion once again.

Quite alright I can understand it, but no wasn't spamming, few times I was that or had been tripped, bashed, something like that to where I'd lag. However most of the time it was just because Kealor felt like he was loyal to whoever he had grouped with at the time, so if Jemr or someone like that had attacked them he would have stood anyway. Bad characteristic at times but it was alright, as for the deaths...well didn't mind dying so much at the beginning because I had so many practices and trains, along with a high con I could just go kill some bandits get some money and go train. So wasn't that bad really. Anyway it was a good time with you, and I could tell when you struggled at times with the rp. But that didn't bother me, good luck with your next one.

My taking your empowerment away was so that you would learn the religion better and understand it. Giving a sanc to an orderly person and healing them when they are fighting someone who is chaotic while you are chaotic is a big no-no. Unless they are in your cabal and it is a raid situation. Even then, you should be wary. To give you some insight, if you had turned on the orderly person and helped the chaotic, you probably would have earned the tattoo regardless of the outcome. You got your full empowerment just from talking to Srinlete that one day. My religion is very easy to become part of, it is difficult to stay a part of because it requires some of the most chaotic risk taking. Good luck with your next.

Heh..I guess it is different with evil chaotic and good chaotic! In the Fortress when I played, chaotic/orderly didn't hinder helping each other..but now I know evil shouldn't be that way.

And I was prepared for a hard and long way to re-empowerment. Shows how well I thought the char was doing. ;) Even if Aumaenka did get your tattoo, I don't think she really deserves it, and would likely do something 'wrong' in the sense of the religion again.

Thanks for the insight, and all the explanations and teachings in-game.

Out of interest, what relevance does the ethos of the aided/assailant have to do with your religion?

It has plenty to do with it. One of my spheres is chaos. Part of that is being unpredictable, but chaos is anti-order as well. Chaos isn't just do whatever you want whenever you feel like it. Especially with my religion. If you are one of my followers and are a tool to enhance order, you can expect me to get upset.

Umm, ok. I disagree with just about everything there (except your religion obviously). Is your interpretation of "Chaos" universal amongst the imms?

Chaos The Sphere of Chaos seeks to render the multiverse a
heterogeneous agglomeration of chance and randomness - a
return to primordial entropy without distinct forms.
Products of this Sphere are individuality, lawlessness, and
the dissipation of universal truths. As one of the Forces,
Chaos holds sway over War and sweeps through the World and
Heavens.

Which part of chaos do you disagree with, the unpredictability or the anti-order?
40646, RE: My religion
Posted by Dur on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Personally, I disagree with chaos being about anti-order. Being anti-order is a restriction, and all restrictions reduce unpredictability. Thus, anti-order itself isn't necessarily a chaotic trait IMHO. I see it that chaos simply doesn't care about order. Personally, I see chaos more as absence of order than anti-order. Outlander cabal is anti-order, as it opposes order in most of its forms. Fortress can be seen as anti-order too, if order in question happens to be the Empire, but I wouldn't see Fortress as chaos. While being anti-order can increase unpredictability as whole, by decreasing order, it does make the anti-orderly individual more predictable, as the options where he happens to work for the order he opposes are cropped out and the probability of the options where he works against order is increased. Anti-order can be a valid way to approach chaos, but it is not a necessary one. I see anti-order as tradeoff where part of individual chaos is sacrificed to increase total chaos.

Posted by Lyristeon on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
You are using the old Entropy attitude about order. Wisdom in my religion negates the "completely" I don't care attitude. You are there to create the gaping maw. Not just do whatever you want. You can view chaos how you wish, but in my religion, it is a force to do something, not just let something happen.
40712, RE: My religion
Posted by DurNominator on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Indeed. Wisdom in your religion negates the I don't care attitude. Chaos doesn't. But Wisdom is there, and so that attitude is negated when it comes to your religion. The posts here have been a good way to understand your religion. If I want to play a chaos priest that way you described, I'll come to you for empowerment, if not, I'll pray for some other entity to empower him. Thanks for the insights. Your religion is an interesting concept.
55397, The problem is there are "two" Chaos spheres
Posted by Enbuergo1 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
One is more like Lyristeon's, which is anti-"human" order or anti-civilization. This one to me really should be a lesser sphere dominated by true Chaos, perhaps called 'Anarchy' or something.

The other sphere is Chaos, or the true sphere. In this sphere anything goes, you do what you want when you want without thinking about consequences. This was Pico's religion. As he described its interaction with alignment, the "goodness" or "badness" of a character sways his choices so that the end product of Chaos tended to shift towards good or evil without 'conscious' direction of the character.

Lyristeon's religion seems to be more anti-"man made order," and thus someone *would* consider ethos when deciding who to fight. A follower of pure chaos wouldn't care at all.
55399, WTF? It took you half a year to come up with that reply?

Part of that is being unpredictable,
Partly, though chaos can also be achieved by being predictable, it just depends as to what part you are playing in the big puzzle.

but chaos is anti-order as well.
Chaos is chaos, not anti-anything.

Chaos isn't just do whatever you want whenever you feel like it.
You just stated that you consider unpredictability to be chaotic, so what's changed?

If you are ... a tool to enhance order, you can expect me to get upset.
I didn't understand how a chaotic killing a chaotic can be considering enhancing order, since surely there may have been some confusion to the orderly.

Chaos is chaos but players are mere mortals, they cannot truly exist in the chaotic world, they are influenced by this sphere and direct events towards a destabilisation or use chaos magicks or something towards the furtherance of chaos.
Obviously my view on things has been heavily tainted by Warhammer chaos and i consider that warbands of Orcs can bring about Chaos. There is order and leadership but in the end, a greater state of Chaos is brought about by Orderly actions.

Similarly i can't help contrast your comments with very old entropy to find an altogether more restrictive view of chaos. Hence why i ask, must i realign my views of Chaos or is there still rampant opportunity? i.e. i'd be extremely miffed by comment had i been playing that chaotic character (whom i've never met nor knowing anything of)

For chaos to be chaos, it is going to be anti-order. Whether you want to admit it or not is a matter of choice.

The chaotic didn't kill the chaotic. All he did was keep helping the orderly. He not once did not agree to help the orderly when asked. He became a tool/slave. If you are a tool or a slave, you will get the smackdown in my religion.

There are different types of chaos, but how chaos relates to my religion, hence the subject, My religion, is exactly as I state it.

You can think of chaos as you wish. In my religion it is tied to wisdom for the express purpose of not being like Entropy. If he was setting up the orderly for a beating, that would have been fine. But there was not a single thing in a role, in his actions or demeanor to suggest he was doing anything of the sort. What he was doing was walking the fence, either he was going to do something special with his actions or crash and burn. That is one of the risks of being part of my religion.
